Curiosity and he showed me that part your talking about where there was a groove, he told me BMW just has a shitty design... What caused that engraving?? What I understand you were getting lots of oil consumption cuz of that no?
Well that was not my "iS" my csr was the black one so I guess mine isn't as bad as I thought lol.

Other guys that own 335is tell me that they use a lot more oil as well. Ivo doesn't believe thst it is a oil problem but a design problem.

By the way yhe part he showed you was from my car.

I wouldn't say that. It's a known-issue, but I'd leave it at that. I've personally never done a cam bearing ledge on an N54, but I've seen a few get done in my shop over the years.

Maybe it's becoming more common as these engines start to accumulate more miles, but with all the CPO covered cars in my area, I'd think I'd be seeing more of these if that were true. It is something to be aware of if you start getting 2A82 and/or 2A87 codes, though.

That is as far as we got when the Cobb AP malfunctioned. We are going back to the dyno soon since my car is finally running great again.

What engine oil did you use during the car's lifetime ? I would put it on oil choice if something thicker than 5W-40 was used. Some people even use M3 oil (10W-60) which is probably one of the worst things that one could do for this engine and turbos.

Never heard of this brand, and even a Google search doesn't bring any good results. Is the oil certified as BMW LL-01 ? What viscosity rating does it have ? Why didn't you choose a known brand (Valvoline is pretty cheap and good) ? Did the problem happen while on this Mutol oil ?
