i wouldn't consider an audi a3 tdi. looked at the a6/7 but i will wait on those until they get some of the bugs out. haven't heard about any cbu but it is only a matter of time.

I am used to driving a 3/4 ton truck with almost 600 ft-lbs of grunt, i may have ruined my chances of looking at any other diesel car with this 335d. i just don't see any models out here that can compare to it.

Curb weight:

335d: 3825 lbs.
535d: 4100-4250 lbs.

Acceleration 0-60 mph:

335d: 5.7 sec.
535d: 5.6-5.7 sec.

Max difference is 425 lbs. Still a bit, but the acceleration is still better or the same with the new 8 speed transmission on the 535d. Fuel economy is likely the same too.

If the VW GDI (diesel version of GTI) comes to US, that would be a good alternative.

I had a GTD, it was a 2010 TDI CUP car, which means its gets the GTI suspension etc, it still sucked, but as an alternative, yes, it is nice..

yeah, i thought the 335d was around 3400 lbs. but the curb weight is for the base model, add more weight if xDrive is included.

funny how the us version of the 535d gets 38mpg but the euro version is rated for 45mpg.

I wasn't interested in a merc and was looking at the audi before i jumped on the 335d. maybe the next one will be the audi. I just can't see getting the 328d or the 535d.
I tested a glk 250 bluetech before buying the D. The merc is more suited for the lower power as it is a more plush of a ride.

I've yet to drive an f30 anything with the sport package. The base 328d that I had as a loaner felt lighter than my e90, had a great transmission, and got excellent mpg's. Everything else was worse, felt cheap and slow.

That's probably Imperial gallons, not US gallons.

I know you know this, but that's not a gtd.
I had a 2012 6MT Golf, loaded, with 18" goal wheels and it was as nice of a car as VW has made in my opinion. I chipped it (Revo) and the added power made it reasonable. But it seriously felt like a rental car. Driving my 3rd 335 now I realize that I'm in love with the E90. Never thought I could afford one and have been fortunate. The only car I would drop it for is the M3 F80, 6MT. I would do that in a heartbeat. But for now... What a great form of transportation. :-)

Same concept, the GTD has a 140hp motor just like the regular tdi, the only difference is it uses the gti suspension, so did the cup cars, it is the same idea and the GTD is a cup car without a trunk but a hatch, nothing special, put coilovers on a regular tdi and you have a gtd...
