The chances of them being able to discover it are absolutely minimal.

HOWEVER, if the service guy is very sharp and drives the car, he may realise that's not how the 'box comes from the factory, and he may simply think its a good idea to reflash your gearbox, at which point he will be told by his software how many flashes the gearbox has had, which may or may not give the game away. You could try telling him the gearbox needed flashing once before at another dealer, if this wildly unlikely scenario pops up, but it might put you in a difficult spot.

If discovered, yes, I believe it would void your warranty on the driveline and engine, but I wouldn't stake my life on it, since Alpina is a BMW approved tuner, you might be able to argue it away in any case.

You mean the Alpina transmission flash? I've had it for nearly a year, and been to service over half a dozen times at 2 different dealerships.

Not a single fuck was given.

So is DINAN, but that doesn't mean BMW and DINAN wouldn't point fingers, and potentially pass the cost down to you, should something to south.

I've heard stories, but so far so good with mine.

There's a way to flash it using WinKFP without updating the UIF therefore making the flash undetectable. It's in the preferences section.

If you don't disable UIF write, the dealer COULD see how many time's it's been flashed and the date of the flash.

There's no easy way to erase this history either.

However, they will probably only look at the current versions, so if you flash back to stock, they likely won't notice.

It's pretty easy for the deal to tell if it's flashed. Simply the DS mods switches to S...that's enough...

Going in to get mine done today. I'm hoping the dealer never sees it.

You'll be fine. I just got my car recoded after they did a software update. Trust me you'll have no issues unless magically your auto trans blows up. Enjoy it, it's my second favorite mod.

No, the dealership doesn't care about the alpina flash. I wouldn't worry about it.

Just got it done. Fuck. Me. HUGE difference, I don't get what other people say about it not being a difference. No lag from a start, shift and downshift/rev match is 100% better, almost immediate.

Cheap and easy mod to do, I love it.

Of course there's a significant difference, but it's also jumpy when sometimes, quite frankly, you don't want it to be.

That's kind of my gripe with it- although I've left it on the car this time around, I have flashed back to stock once or twice.

Just curious... how did you get it done on a 128? Unless you have a 335 in the family, it won't work... will it?

No, you're right, I have both, the 128 is stock other than eibachs and black grills. I did feel a little jump when it probably shouldn't but I'm not too concerned about it, it's better all around than it was before, so I can live with it.

Other people are right about drive mode though, I'll be going 80kmh I'm in 6th lol

Yep. I won't lie, it kinda worries me at times, but overall, the increased drivability makes me keep it.

It is 'jumpy' but believe it or not going to another tune...a specific pro tune, the shifts are smoother and more balanced.

I had Alpina flash for a while, but since I use it in D for my commute it really became annoying so switched back to stock. It seems that D upshifts so fast that it is great only in winter with snow or ice If there was a choice, I would keep D stock and Alpina with sport mode.

I kinda have to agree with this. In D it's pretty annoying so I like always have to use my paddles.

I just got this done last week and I absolutely love it. This is how the 335 should come. D mode is more of an "Eco" drive and "S" mode gives you perfect rev matching with no lag between shifts. Only problem is I find myself driving in sport mode all the time now!
