life expectancy of LUX E90 V6 angel eye upgrade
so, my indy shop tells me my ext. bulb indicator that came on last week is telling me an angel eye only has 30hrs left.
I asked him about aftermarket BRIGHTER ones and he said he has installed a few, but they don't seem to last as long as OEM. what have you guys experienced? thanks in advance |

How did they come up with 30hrs left?
In dealing with aftermarket lights for the last 5 years, it's hit or miss. Some last a day, some last a few years, luck of the draw, roll the dice. |

I think he meant the indicator comes on when a bulb has only 30hrs left?

For our LUX E90 V6 angel eyes these have a very long life on them. We have been making angel eyes for over 9 years and some of our original parts are still out there running strong too. We don't use crappy parts on them so you have no need to worry about the life expentency on them. I of course cant say about other brands, but this guy may be referring to more e-bay type stuff. They have a 1-year warranty just to cover defects, but they will last a whole lot longer than that. |

Like above, I´ve never heard of an indicator that says you have a certain amount of hours left.. Maybe on xenons its possible, but incandescent like halogen? My first thought was "BS!"
And brighter but shorter life? The guy must be talking about halogen bulbs.. Like the Osram Nightbreaker Unlimited or Cool blue intense or Phillips Whitevision. Those are "tweaked" halogen bulbs that have a diffrent gasmixture in them, they burn the filament hotter and give more lumens, but that results in a shorter lifespan. About 30% shorter is what I heard.. But you get maybe 10-15% more light. I can see the point of changing them in your headlights, I´ve done so myself in my vehicles that run halogen, and even put in the nightbreaker xenon bulb in my bmw, but on angeleyes? Go LED from one of the vendors above. LEDs will (if put together correctly, like those above) outlast the car most likely.

There are many aftermarket LED options available. Choose one that fits your needs and budgets and pay attention to the warranty's. I'd stay away from options on Ebay and Amazon that are excessively cheap, IE under $50. They are typically not that bright and possibly prone to failure. You said it better then me. |
