Brand new hps pads squeal as I come to a stop

So my brand new brake pads started squealing as I'm coming to a stop. The pads are hawk hps with r1concepts premier series rotors drilled and slotted. Is there anything I can do to stop the squealing? They only start squealing once they get hot... Any help is appreciated thanks

Did you clean the carriers, hubs up good with brake cleaner/brush etc? These pads aren't noisy and there really isn't anywhere to put anti squeal paste (backing plates on pads don't really touch anything).

Did you burnish them per Hawk's instructions?

My mechanic installed them and he bedded them properly with me in the car. So I am a loss. It's pretty embarrassing. The brakes look great but the squeal sucks ass. I did my brakes at Ivo which is a 335 expert.

Yea I did, I did get my calipers painted. Could it be caliper paint residue possibly?

Looks like you got a black paint/zinc coating or something similar? The excess paint that the pads wear off can cause noise issues for sure. I'd just break them in a little more, then clean thoroughly.

My mechanic did the install and he is amongst the most popular in my area when it comes to our platform, so I doubt it's something to do with install. Only thing I can think is the caliper paint maybe. I'm going to try to see what corner it's squealing from. Funny thing is when there cold there no noise the way it should be... Again thanks for the help from everyone

I have the same problem with cheap pads. Mostly my rears are doing it. Only when hot. Only with almost stoped. I've tried almost everything.

My friend told me to try this.

https://www.bgprod.com/catalog/brakes/bg-stop-squeal/

Will try next weekend hopefully and get back to you.

Cool! I don't think hawk hps are that bad/cheap, maybe they are.. Let me know if that stuff works and thanks for your help

Based on this thread, it may be the rotors.

http://5series.net/forums/e60-parts-...rotors-127265/

FWIW, while very familiar with Hawk pads, I had never heard of R1 Concepts rotors and it strikes me as strange that they are both slotted and drilled.

I have a set of those rotors (only slotted though) with stoptech pads that have been flawless for a year now and I'm not easy on them.

It's not the rotors.

I have had HPS on 6 different cars including my 2 current cars, no squeek at all. I've also used HP + and they only squeaked at low speed when cold.

Looking at your picture, something is up. If you left paint on your rotor surface that could be the issue.

Did the installer use brake quiet grease on the back of the pad?

I just installed Pagid S pads and R1 concepts rotors no issues here. I also ran Hawks hps on r1 rotors on my e90 with no issues. I've gone through ALOT of rotors and brakes on all my bmws and I honestly couldn't be happier with R1's. They have an a lot of half mile events, street tuning and racing and every day driving. They have held everything I've thrown at them. To give you an idea, I just went thru a front and rear set of pads in 10k miles and 1 year 2 months. Lots of third and fourth gear redlines with heavy breaking back to the speed limit. Sometimes 3-5 times in a row.

Also the new pagid S pads are phenomenal. Once warm the brake feel and modulation feels like manual brakes. Highly recommend those pads for anyone really hard on their brakes

This might be dumb, but i'm hoping he brake cleaned the rotors. The rotors will come with a thin layer of oil to prevent rusting and if not removed could be causing the squealing.

Just re-read your post.

EDIT- Good point. They need to clean off the rotors with brake cleaner before installing. If THEY didn't, I would remove the pads and scuff them with some sand paper and clean them with brake cleaner, I'd do the same to the rotors as well.

And if they didn't, I'd also find a new shop to work on your car.
