Also a nice little touch is doing the shift knob. It was a pita to get the plastic piece off but it a nice match other than the stock aluminum look. My aluminum piece started to bubble at the top from heat so I went ahead and did it.

yeah, use heat very sparingly! The less stretching and heating you have to do, the better. Take the time to lay the pieces out before, and peel/stick carefully, you should be fine. I have some wrinkled corners where there are sharp bends, but overall it turned out well for a few hours of effort (and never having done it before!)

Yes it won't be perfect you will have some wrinkles in the corners but are usually not visible when you have everything installed. And yes take your time lol I did my over a 3 day period to not rush

Also the ash tray and the little silver piece come off. I had to use a little gorilla glue to put it back on.

Great thanks! Yeah I thought I was getting 3m vinyl, but I'm not sure what it really was. All I know is I got it on Amazon.

Makes sense, I guess I applied too much heat initially trying to get it to stretch around the corners. Maybe I'll have to try again sometime.

I have to (respectfully!) disagree with not using heat -- I ordered a lot of excess to get my technique down, and the trick was using heat to be honest. There were basically two ways to do the hard curves/angle, namely around the curve where the trim meets the steering wheel. Number 1 is have folds/wrinkles, and number 2 is to apply heat and stretch carefully...it's hard to explain, but heat and stretching gave me fantastic results. I'll post a few pics sometime this week --- finally wrapping up my iDrive retrofit and vinyl wrap project.

You sure he didn't just replace the whole center console - the ebrake and rear tray are different.

haha bingo. While I had the trim off, I just kept going. Stock consoles were also beige, and swapping for black was an easy way to get a partial 2-tone look. shifter and ebrake boots are from redlinegoods

that said, if you're talking about the rearmost lid on the rear console, that whole piece is replaceable, separate from the rest of the rear console.

You could wrap the everything with a 5ftx3ft sheet and have extra.With the extra I ended up wrapping the back seat center console.

Are you referring to the E92 Rear Console Lid?

If so, I never tried to just slide it!
