Need suggestions for N52 tune
Hey guys, so recently I finally got around to swapping the stock manifold and retrofitting the three stage intake with the disa valves. I want to know what's the CHEAPEST tuning option to activate the disa valves and unleash the extra hp that can be achieved from this mod. I hear bimmergeeks does it for around $100 but I haven't heard back from them after I've emailed them.
Right now the car has the following: - RevMotoring silicone intake elbow - Three stage intake manifold (from a 5 series, it has the heat sink on top of it) - A.F.E. catless midpipes - BMW Performance Exhaust - Vibrant bottle style resonator Love to hear suggestions, thanks! |

I've heard there are some free simple performance tunes available to take advantage of the 3SIM, paging hassmaschine and 6ixSpd for further comment. Apparently they're close to what you would get with AA at basically a fraction of the cost.

Have you set up an account and followed the instructions?
In short, you will need to download and flash a file that unlocks your DME, then download and flash a file that memics the BMW 330 tune. It's not a custom tune. Just lets your lower powerclass file run the 330 tune. Need a good cable and a PC set up with the BMW tools. Can't get any cheaper. Maybe a little short on the Free technical support but it works and it's a great service provided to the community. |

Go with the Stage FP tune. These cars need all the help they can get.

Yeah, word on the street is someone disassembled an AA tune and it wasn't nearly as optimized as it should've been.

Their newest tune is on par with BPC (stage fp) tune. AA's initial variations of the tune was crap, but the latest revision is rather good. Plenty of low end tq and power on top. |

Bimmerlabs refered me to bimmer ECU solutions.
I have been in contact with them and they will do the remote flash for 100$. I'll be using their services soon, I'll post a review when I do. https://www.bimecu.com |

Will the vehicle still be reliable even with these tunes? Does anyone have a high mileage e90 328i or 330i or 325i with a tune for extended periods?

The tune + all the supporting mods will garner some good streetable power for the platform. Just keep up on the preventative maintenance and longevity shouldn't be an issue. If you go with the 3IM, just make sure your DISA valves are in good shape (in my experience, they are forever going out.) Or you can follow what Biginboca did and run the n54 intake and make power all the way to red line while eliminating 2 failure points (being DISA valves). That's just my experience though, I don't know how how often everyone else had to pull theirs for replacement or repair.

Motor is solid, but there are a few tuners that have no idea and push the timing too far. I had 205,000 miles on mine when I traded in. Started turning at 135k or so. |
