Does track use void tread wear warranty on Michelin AS3 tires?
Does track use void tread wear warranty on Michelin AS3 tires? What about pilot super sports? Tried reading their warranty information it doesn't mention track use but it says racing voids your warranty.

Why are you using all season tires on the track?

They look to be in a quite a different shape than I have ever seen my tires, I think the hard turns wear them in quite a different manner.
It didn't cross my mind, first time on the track. And honestly I took it pretty safe/slow... instructor was commending me on my safety and kept telling me to push harder and to let much slower cars pass... But the tires are 5/32nd in 10k miles when they are rated for 45k. Not sure how much of that is due to the track use.

A/S 3+ is a great all-round tire but not cut out for track duty. You live and you learn. Don't expect treadlife coverage with any tires that are tracked.

1) there's nothing wrong w the all season tires for your first track day. Run what you brung and looks like you had fun and the instructor felt safe in the car! Nice job!
2) It'd be hard pressed to make a case of accelerated wear. Not sure what warranty if being offered but I wouldn't sweat it. Run the tires as you normally would then look for alternatives if you see yourself going to the track frequently.

I was at WGI a few weeks ago and went out with an instructor in an airport rental Mustang 5.0 on all seasons. He was flat through the esses. After seeing this, doing the esses flat in my car on sticky tires didn't seem like such a big deal. The moral of the story being, don't worry about doing a few track days on all seasons as those bad boys will have more than enough grip to get you started. Use them up then go for a summer tire. Just don't expect a warranty

Discount Tire knows I don’t pay for any kind of tire warranty or extras.

I wouldn't bring it up but track wear can be pretty obvious.
You can 100% do track days on all seasons, especially if you're just getting into it. They're not dangerous, super audible at the limit but they will start to condition you into thinking you have less grip than reality once you put stickier tires on. So if tracking is something you'll continue doing then you'll want to think about getting into a stickier street tire and advancing through the ranks there. |

I'd rethink my life if he managed to go flat with a stock rental mustang on all seasons. |

Instructor experience X minor esses
Maybe the instructor's experience level, especially with his comfort with more slip than an ordinary track visitor (1st timer at that), allowed him to go flat out through esses? Of significance, we don't know the severity of the esses... it's not THAT uncommon to go flat out on esses when the best line is basically straight.

EDIT: Plus the line only starts to straighten after the first right hand curbing of the esses. Last edited by NYG; 08-05-2021 at 01:21 PM.. |

![]() Regardless my point was you can have good track fun with all seasons, they have plenty of lateral grip and will talk all day. A set of AS/4's probably aren't far off an older tire like super sports, they will just overheat quicker. Tire tech has come a huge distance in 10 years. |
