Just something else to note... I see where it says it includes the 48v mild hybrid when you "Explore" the 2-series models, but if you go and "build your own" all the way out to the summary page and try to print out the full specs it does NOT say anything about mild hybrid. The mystery continues...

I only know 1 person that was actually looking for an M2 and they got it at MSRP. Granted, they’ve been going to the same BMW dealer for years for their cars so had a long relationship which I’m sure is why they were able to get an allocation and good price

Here in the Bay Area you can order an M2 at MSRP. Dealers have an allocation for maybe 2-3 M2’s a month and while there is demand it’s not high enough where they can get away with markups on orders. Great performance value but I think the universally awkward looks dwindled down what the demand would have been.

The 48V system has to add weight. The BMWUSA.com site lists the weight of the 2024 M240i xDrive as 3871 lbs. (1756 kg). This is exactly the weight they report for the 2023 M240i xDrive. So did they trim some weight off the 2024 to keep the weight down, or are they hiding the fact that the M240i has gained even more weight?

Unless rail transportation to the west coast is quicker I would assume that vehicles dropped off in Galveston Texas would be first. But I could be wrong!

So I was at the BMW USA website and was looking at an interior photo which encompassed the console. I only saw three buttons to the left of the shifter which would indicate to me that the ASS button is gone.

Not a great pic, but I zoomed in on it and I do see what looks to be the circular arrow with OFF as the button just above the start/stop button. And the button arrangement in this pic does look different than the 2024 4 series that does have the 48V mild hybrid (fewer buttons). Looking at online pics of the 23 and 24 3 and 4 series' I see a couple of variations of this console - some only have 2 buttons (above the start/stop) while others seem to have 3 or 4. I think we roll the dice whether ours gets the 48V MH or not........That is until they start delivering them and then we will know for sure. |

I recently bought an M340i with the mild hybrid system, and the main downside is the braking feel. It's a bit clunky at low speeds and takes getting used to in order to stop smoothly.
Keep in mind, as others have noted, that if your transmission or drivetrain are in sport then the auto start/stop is disabled. |

I didn't order that option so I guess that pic is just a generic pic of a 24.

Go to 8:26, you can see the auto engine start button is still there so the 2024’s won’t come with the 48V mild hybrid system. The sales guy confirms in the comment section that the car is indeed a 2024 and doesn’t come with the mild hybrid system.
