i grab the passanger side seat belt and insert it into the drivers side! works for me.

i dont know how you would secure the magnet, i think the securing the magnet in place would be quite tricky since you are always buckling and un-buckling...

+1 on getting a spare clip

You reach all the way to other side to put than in your buckle? Why not just buckle your own belt, it's easier and could save your life.

No one's talking about driving around without it. For example today, I had to take the belt off to pull out my wallet, and 10 seconds later the thing starts obnoxiously screaming at me. God forbid you're getting a coffee at the drive through.

It's stupid. I know I'm going to put my belt back on in a second, shut up about it for god's sake. Clearly I know it's off, I JUST TOOK IT OFF!

Too bad the jamming a piece in there won't work on the E9x. I don't want something jammed in there though, because I still want to use the belt. I just want the chime off.

yeah it would be great to figure out a way just to turn off the chime.... I dont mind the RED-BLINKING-SIGN on instrument cluster but the stupid chime kills me...

That's more than lazy huh? I just sometimes really don't feel like wearing it thats all. I've gotten to the point to where I will live thru the chime and it will eventually shut up.

About the seat belt saving lifes, I know it does but yet I had a friend get into a life threating accident and the policy/paramedics/fire man all said if he was wearing his seat belt he would have died. Like I said, not getting into it and I know for the most part, 95% of the time it could save your life. Sometimes I just might have that 5% and my friend in my head.

Bottom line, to each his own.

how about just glueing a small piece of magnet to the sensor. It's probably just an inductive sensor, so the glue will make no difference.....you can get small adhesive strips of magnet at a craft store, target, wallmart.....

What I did was buy a seatbelt buckle from a toyota corolla on ebay and I grinded it down to match the shape of the oem buckle.

So when I feel like not wearing a seatbelt I just pop that one in. It cost me 10 bucks

i went ahead a pulled mine apart and these are the results.

the last pic show what seems to be a sensor with a magnetic grove and therefore it is impossible to trick it unless you actually put the clip into it

I took my buckle apart and tried to find something to actuated it. I tried magnets, ferrous and non-ferrous metals and everything else I could find. Nothing seems to work. I don't think gluing the actuator down will work, as it is connected to a spring that pushed the buckle back out. When I get some time, I will hook up my sensor tester to find out if it's a PNP or NPN sensor, then try connecting a standard inductive style sensor to it.......Sorry I don't have better news. Unless someone can totally rip their clicker apart and identify the material it's made of.

i think you are getting warmer...this seems like the most logical solution. the belt buckle has to communicate to the car whether it is fastened or not, the wires are the only way. anyone have the balls to try?

As anyone just inquired at the dealer about extending the timer? It is so short that if I get out and check the mail at the end of the driveway, it is dinging before I get to the garage.
