Thank you for sharing the great video of a timeless classic theDevThing
I owned a black e24 M6 when I first started selling BMWs. Legendary in performance and beauty. It was ahead if it’s time and the competition. Watch the 1989 La Carrera Classic, Baja California, originally published by Cunningham BMW. M6 Coupes against Ferraris, 930 Porsches, and many other top of the food chain cars of the day. The M6 was in stock form and devoured the corners, as a shark should, placing 2nd overall. 6:52 explanation of the race and competitors 14:15 overtaking two Ferraris 21:30 apology from driver for profanity during filming 26:06 170 mph, passing a Shelby Cobra doing 160-165 mph. 48:00 hunting a Pantera, passing 911s La Carrera Classic Enjoy what to this day fires me up about BMW. ///M Power

Thank you so much for sharing this theDevThing —it truly revives that nostalgic feeling! Instantly teleporting me to the BMW Museum in Munich, where I found myself standing in awe of the M6 635csi, my jaw dropped and practically drooling.
I've been after this puppy for a while. One surfaced on a salvage auction in Melbourne recently, it was in a really dilapidated state with rust falling off all ends. Reluctantly, had to let go. Still on the hunt...! |

We had a 79 635csi for many years, modified with 3 piece BBS wheels, Bilsteins, springs, Wilwood BBK, late 3.5L, cam, headers, 5 speed, 3.64 LSD, etc. Definitely a classic. Also had a similarly modified 73 Bavaria for many years. But honestly, I don’t really miss them. They take time and money to maintain and aren’t really great drivers by modern standards so you put a lot of effort into having a car you rarely drive. I still have a couple of older cars, a 75 2002 that I am restoring and a highly modified 99 M3 that I am thinking about restoring, but I don’t drive either of those much, either. Retired this year but have been too busy to get to the car projects. Hopefully next year.
