That was the first thing I checked; no obvious breaks or cracks but I didn't inspect any wires within the rubber cover (and on the E93 it's LONG.)
It seems to be the board inside the light itself. When removed from the trunk lid, shaking/tapping it made it work. I don't mind soldering, but these assemblies appear to be glued together, and I can't separate it without destroying the light. I'll be on the lookout for a set of LCI tail lights. Another day, another poorly maintained N54
Time to go to town with some solvent and a wire brush!

Didn't do much to the car however the CIC retrofit parts collecting project has started. Thanks to Lowrydr310 I received the head unit via mail yesterday. Found a really good DIY thread from a fellow Bimmerpost member for what's needed with part numbers and a coding walkthrough.
Also through the research I saw that CIC early screens had the protective glass and then BMW decided to ditch the glass and add an anti glare coating to the screens which made me question what to me seems to be a poor decision. I'd much rather have the protective glass scratched and having the ease to buff it than leave scratches all over the screen itself. Not like the screen has touch screen function either. I wonder what the reasoning was behind that decision.. |

I'm not quite sure yet how I'll start. probably with picture and measurement and see where is the best cut line. then plastic weld, bondo and paint. a good project ahead. |

Yep. Just watch where the attachment points are for the side bumper brackets. I forget it they line up with the bottom or top half of the bumper.

We’re probably going to be adding yet another BMW to the fleet. Actually re-adding. My dad’s old 330Ci, 2005 convertible. Had the chance to rebuy it, why not? Great first car for the youngest in the family!
I may or may not try to switch with them. God I loved that E46… |

Found a supposedly similar tape to the one BMW applies on the shadow line trim for a service bulletin to stop the seal creaks because I’m sick of mine.
Was a bear to install, didn’t stick for shit and had to use a heat gun as if it was thick ppf. Kinda looks white it was supposed to be transparent, hopefully it’ll cure like ppf and be less noticeable but so far no more creaks. Also applied to steering shaft to avoid squeaks against the boot.

Missed my old 325i MT dearly since the day it was sold, 5 years ago and I still have daydreams of alpine white E46’s

I actually transferred the plastic cover over to the new CIC screen but after a day I ditched it since it's not necessary. |
