Replaced the broken AliExpress performance gear selector with another one, and put back the loose roof rack cap that I took off last year. Black duct tape around the slidy bit for some extra friction did the trick

Alright, $953 of parts just arrived for the Z4. Heat in the garage is fixed! Ready to do some wrenching over the T-day weekend. Getting back in the groove.

StradaRedlands have a look at mine at 348,000km (216,000miles), never cleaned before. Doesn't hurt to check them. Considering you're pretty in tune with car's maintenance, I don't suspect you'd have any issues.

I installed the new cupholder, I’ve owned it for over eight years and it’s never worked properly. I guess I rarely use it as I’m not eating, drinking and playing with the stereo or phone.

Cupholders are over-rated!!! Would rather have none than the fiddly over-complicated things on BMWs!

I think about cleaning them, and maybe even replacing them as they are just spring loaded, and it has to be getting weaker over time. But they haven't been a priority Looks not so bad @ 348k km!

With an n52 amd 265s I couldn’t get it to do a burnout, but it did get more squirrelly than usual when punching it hard into a right turn off a stop sign.

Also the Dinan is glorious but fitment isn’t dialed in. The underbody e91 brace and the coupler for the rear section were trying to occupy the same space-time coordinates so to clear that it is a bit far in and to the hard right of the opening.

But the sound is absolutely all I hoped. That beautiful banshee howl above 4k, throbbing bass notes below 3k, just good presence without sounding like an open exhaust nor Honda-esque, nor like the annoying Mustangs with their sharp barky exhausts.

I do still have a mobridge with PnP harness, and also a pair of SWS sitting here, and will be glad to start a thread like we had in the f3x forum to share tune files with others one I get them installed and something worth listening to beyond the base /default tune.

However I am not going to be using the normal output assignments as I plan to run the rear flat panel /electrostat roof speakers in series off one channel as a rear center… , then use the other rear channel reassigned as front center, instead of rear stereo and using the 400w sub channel for front center. Both because I want to save that 400/800w amp channel for an external sub box, amd because in my experience flat panels REALLY don’t like a lot of extra power, first they get harsh and then the magic smoke comes out.

Replaced battery with an Interstate AGM. Friend with an Autel tool is going to register it for me on Monday .

Also found out my cheap parts store alternator has a bad diode, so that's on order for next week. Didn't even last me 5 months .

I want to try this, but not sure with a 600hp car, I'm not use to drive rwd. Already on a highway pull with xdrive, the rear end want to shift...

The E91 needs an oil change so I decided to go volume on the oil - ordered a 5-gallon box. Valvoline's 5W-30 Euro Synthetic is $111.99 with free shipping (but "shipping insurance/tracking" is a little over $3 so total price about $115), so less than $6 quart. For the N52, five gallons would be just about 3 changes.

I noticed after I ordered that there are discounts for more than one so, if I do this again, I will order 10 gallons at a time (gets it down to less than $5/quart). I've also got an E82 so I have two cars that will use this oil. I change every 5,000 miles or one year (which is almost always the case as I am now retired and our driving is divided over five cars (probably be down to four sometime soon).

I've gone back and forth between using less expensive oil (Kirkland or Valvoline 2-gallon boxes in my non-BMW/Corvette vehicles, i.e. wife's Toyota, my old Subaru Baja, son's Mazda) vs. more expensive, high-end oil (Liqui-Moly). But only going 5K miles (or less at the one-year point), I cannot justify the high-end stuff.

How do you meter it out?

I did oil change a few months ago and found out that Walmart has Mobil 1 or Castrol Edge stocked again that had BMW LL-01 specs back on them, and cheap if you buy 5 quart. I see Valvoline BMW LL-01 5 quart at Walmart web site listed for $27.

Advance Autoparts had Mann oil filter locally available too. Between Walmart and Advance Auto, I was able to do oil change without any online ordering and waiting.

Of the two Walmarts nearest me, the one in Delaware (which means no sales tax) does not stock any LL-01 oil (not sure why not but it is in an area which is lower socioeconomic) while the one over the state line in Pennsylvania does seem to have a somewhat wider offering (in a much higher socioeconomic area). At the PA store I picked up some two-gallon "garage boxes" of oil in preparation for oil changes to my son's Mazda 6 (Valvoline 5w-30) and my wife's Toyota Venza (Valvoline 0w-20). Just checked to see what the PA store has in LL-01 and they do have the Valvoline 5w-30 Euro/LL-01 in 5 quart jugs on sale for $26.97 (regular price $35.99). The 5-gallon box is a slightly better price (and a much better price if not on sale).

I like the lower plastic packaging and hope the "bag-of-oil-in-a-box" form factor works out. It kills me to have to toss those plastic jugs into the trash (recycle won't take them/just throws them out if you include them in your recycle). These boxes are better environmentally.

I tend to get my Mann or Hengst oil filters from FCP or ECS/Turner when I need to pad an order to get up to the free shipping. Oil filters are great for that as I know they will get used.

You can set it in between 50/50 amd 0/100 , like 20/80 with xDelete if you wanted to.

Isn't that the truth! I rarely have a beverage in my car. Instead, I enjoy rowing through the gears and listen to the N54.

Size: 784.6 KBI chose the carpet mats because I live in Florida so harsh weather like snow isn't an issue and I like the look of the carpet much better. I think they look really nice with the beige interior. Does anyone know where the anchor point is for the passenger side front floor mat? Can't seem to find that one. Installing belt and pulley kit either tomorrow or Sunday.
