my 2008 e90 audio install progress

Technic, the front inputs only are being used at my request. I only wanted front stage. The front inputs and sub inputs are all that is needed to get full range to the cleansweep. I still have the factory rear door speakers hooked to the factory amp, so I can fade them in if I need to. It's just not something that I think I will ever need or want. I am using all 6 channels of the 650.6 on the front stage, so I think it's going to be pretty awesome once it's tuned properly. I was also able to get away with only using 1 set of outputs due to my use of the JL remote level/line driver. It has 2 sets of outputs, one pass thru and one with volume control. I just have the 650.6 on the passive output and the 500.1 on the other. Works great!

dv, a conventional sub wouldn't fit properly in that rear quarter where I have it mounted. The 13tw5 only requires .8 cu/ft of space, so it is filling the need that I had for keeping as much trunk space as possible. I was able to hear this sub in my installers vehicle and was very impressed, so I knew it would sound good before I bought it. I have not put any sound deadening in the car as of yet. I may still do it later, but I am not hearing anything right now that makes me think it's needed. I am sure it would be a good upgrade, but I just plan to wait for now and see how I like it as is.

Tell me about it! Those 8's under the seat really come alive with 100 watts on each and set to play from 80-200 hz

I may try lowering them a bit to bring a little more bass to the front stage.

Starting to look at upgrades for the front speakers. Anyone heard rainbow stuff before? I have heard of them, and always good things, but have never actually heard them before. Looking at these: http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=7045

I am still also interested in the hybrid audio stuff, but if I go with their 4" mid it has to be mounted to the front of the door panel. They don't come with grills and the stock one won't fit over this mid. I'm trying to keep it as stock looking as possible.

Little bit of an upgrade. The one sub wasn't doing what I wanted, so I decided to make use of the 2 eclipse 12's I had laying around from the old install. It takes up about half the trunk, which kinda sucks, but it made a HUGE difference in the sound of the system! The subs are a set of eclipse 88120 DVC subs that I have had since my original install in my 2000 Dodge Viper. The box is 2 cu/ft made out of MDF. The trim panel is 1/8" hobby board and that is what took the longest to get done. Started with a cardboard template and traced it out on the wood, then covered with trunk liner to match the trunk. Many thanks to by friend Scott for coming over and running the saws as I suck at that! Turned out great I think. Next up is to upgrade the front stage speakers with Hybrid audio Legatia speakers.

Rear firing subs are always the way to go, as far as I am concerned. As far as door speakers go, you may want to check out the Focal 100 KP, which are pretty much a drop-in replacement of the OEM speakers. I can vouch for the superb quality of the mids, as I was using them in my last install. I'm sure the Legatias are very nice, but I would rather go with the Focals since you will be able to keep your doors and tweeter pods 100% stock.

Thanks dakine! The original box we built was right at .8 cu/ft. I have been toying around with the idea of building a new face for it so I can mount a conventional 12" and see how that sounds.

I also went ahead and upgraded the front speakers to the hybrid audio legatia L4 mids and L1 tweets. Talk about a night and day difference over the stock L7 speakers!!!
