I'm surprised at how many BMW drivers are gas scrooges.

I spend like $2k a YEAR on gas... Compare that to what a typical person spends per year on rent or mortgage... it pales in comparison - drop in the bucket.

I just run on 93 all the time and don't think twice about it.

Maybe when gas starts to get around $8/gallon I'll just ride my 750 more often.

Dude.... you only spend $2k a year? I'm spending like $40-50 a week just getting 91. Is gas in DC cheap or do you not drive much?

Nissans are Japanese Pontiacs...big, ugly, heavy cars with powerful motors and shitty interiors: a lot of talk about performance without being able to back it up with track numbers. (GT-R excluded)

I wish Honda would stop screwing around and start making cars for people like us. I trust them to do it right.
Saying Evo X interior is better than 370Z, it's like the pot calling the kettle black. I would say 370z Nismo would be a good choice. I hear the nismo is a lot more retrofitted compared to 350z nismo.

OP: are you considering G37 at all? I'd definitely get one of those over a 370Z (not 370Z nismo, that I would get).

EVO X's are great except for one thing. The interior sucks on all fronts. Well, the exerterior isn't exactly bad ass and sexy. I would take one but not for the price they are asking. It is a $25,000 car asking $40k for it.

Transmission in the MR is super good.
The dual clutch tranny will shift like a race driver (i.e. aggressive downshifting, revvy as hell).

Front, rear, center differentials are top notch.
They are hybrid torsen + clutch pack mechanicals WITH electronic assist for yaw control. It's supercar quality. All bases covered.

The engine has good power sock, and will tune to a 10 second car [for the X]. (evo 9 and earlier are stupid fast tuned... as low as 7 seconds... but we're not talking about them).

Exterior is a style thing. You like it or you don't.
Interior is average. Not bad, not great. Accord/Camry level stuff.

If you compared an evo X to a 335 :
Engine is more reliable, with similar technology, less bottom end torque, similar top end.
Tune-ability is better.
Handling is night and day better.
Drive train is night and day better.
Interior is more plastic-ish (but I wouldn't value a few pieces of trim over performance)

If it wasn't for the fact that the X was heavier than the 9 by a few hundred pounds, I would have cross shopped it with the 335.

Instead I went with a 335 to try the 'more refined' type of car. (heavier, but nicer).
If I had known it would be as unreliable as it is, and how awful the electronic stability control handles in over-steer conditions, I would have not bothered with a 335.

I'll hang on to it for a couple years so that I don't take a big loss selling it, and then I'll just get something more fun. Like a USED z06 or GTR or 997, or just another evo that someone already tuned the piss out of, just to have a fun as hell car to drive like I stole it - and not worry about what I do to it because it always needs warranty work.

Its an amazing car. A well-made sports-car (especialy if you are talking about a Nismo one).
As you know the sportscar=compromise

This means you need to compromize to luxery, capacity (passengers and stuff) and confort.

I wouldn't buy it cause I have other priorities but if I had spare money to make a collection of cars on my garage, the 370Z would certainly be there.

I was in the same boat last month. My 335 lease was up and I had to make a choice. I loved the car and it ran really well (see sig) but BMW wasn't jumping through any hoops to sell it to me. My Dealer was even less interested in selling it to me as they saw it as a potential money maker as a CPO. I only racked up 21K miles on a 30K mile lease and TiAg/Coral/MT is not an easy car to find. So, I turned it in and walked away.

For the last 6 months or so I have been consumed with the idea that I wanted an ///M car of some type. I didn't want a 2 seater or an E46 M3 as I like having a little room around me. The used E60 M5 deals are pretty sweet these days, but still more than I wanted to spend. So I begin looking into the E39 M5 and it had everything I wanted. More room, great sound, stealth looks and exclusivity. You just don't see many of them.

After test driving many disappointing cars, I got lucky and found my Beast. Sure, It's slower than a tuned 335, but there's just something about it that get my blood pumping. With the Billy Boat exhaust, it has a sound that the 335 could never have. At only 46K miles my '03 M5 is very close to perfect. I really don't miss the E92 all that much. OK, just a little!

Here's a pic........

Garage List
2007 335i Coupe  [0.00]
Not an easy decision...just depends on your priorities but in the end just keep in mind that there are usually compromises to be made. Prior to my 335 Coupe I owned an 06 350Z and prior to that there was a 2002 325 Sedan. The 350Z did feel like a harsher ride at first but then I got used to it. It's a real sports car and drives like one. It rides closer to the ground so there was a little more interior nosie but I didn't mind it.

I have also considered the 370Z, the new Z4 35, a C6 or tuning my current 335 (was looking into Dinan).

Good luck with your decision if you haven't already decided.

heres another vote for a C6 vette!
on corvette forums there and mANY dealers selling brand new for under invoice, and dealer pricing..

i had 2 350Z and a vette, the vette is like a "refined" 350Z with gooooobbss more power and TQ. 430hp for 08 and up! LOST of room for a 2 seater
and a bonus of 26 mpg (i have got 31mpg)
and great 100k warranty

its driving feel is almost as great as bmw.. at least drive, you can get a new one for around 39k and up.. even the "base" ones are loaded

though most people wont even challenge you to race..
right in their manual top speed is 189mph .98G
DONT get the crap BLOSE system tho...

Forget about creature comforts. And you'll soon learn to hate that thrashy, garbage VQ engine that makes nothing but a lot of noise.

If you want something sportier, get a used C6 Corvette. Much, much easier to live with on a day-to-day basis and an engine that is to die for.

I have driven all 3 of these cars before buying my 335i, for what it is worth.

The 370Z is a nice sports car but I could never justify it over an Evo X or a C6 Corvette.

-Evo X has way more tuning potential, much more practicality
-C6 has the same level of practicality, f'ing WAY MORE power off the lot, and f'ing WAY MORE tuning potential.
-The only place that the Z really has me is fender envy but that's it.

buy out your used 335i or get the 370z. Don't lease another... it's so pointless and defeats the purpose of leasing, which is to be able to drive something new every 3 years.
