To add, I got a DOA HDD and I put my old one back on, and didnt want a new one at all after finding the old one is basically just as fast for what I need. I sent it back, and within 2 weeks got my full refund no questions asked. Amazon really does rock.

Regarding the dumbbells: I bought them from Amazon on Black Friday 2009 for $300 and ended up returning them because they would get stuck on the base after having them sit for 1 hour+. Minor gripe but annoying. I'd have to rotate the weight knob 360 before they would release again.

Look at the reviews I may have gotten a fluke or incorrectly used them. The return was painless with Amazon paying for shipping back. Everything else worked great...seemed like a minor design issue as both dumbbells did it.

EDIT: I bought the 552's. Amazon Prime is great if you plan on shopping there a lot.
Yeah, I read those reviews. It seems to be more how you set them down in the base, a leveling issue?

The only reason on want these ones is I already use up to 55-60 lbs for some exercises. The 552's would be useful but I wouldn't be able to push myself.

I want to slowly build up some essential equipment so that I can do full work out at home. Right now I just can't find the time to get into the gym. New house, new puppy, work etc etc. I know everyone else has similar issues but I don't like waking up a 6am to make the time nor do I want to waste 2 hours after work away from home/wife/dog. Other things are more important in my life right now then a rip/chiseled body. I'm just going for fit and losing 10-15lbs. and don't feel I need to waste time at a gym to attain that.

I looked at these as well. I read the reviews that they are superior to bowflex but the cheapest I can find the ones that go up to 90lbs. is $700. A $300 difference just isn't worth it to me. Especially when I want to buy other equipment.

Thanks for all the comments! I think I'm going to get them.

Consider craigslist and ebay for powerblocks. You could get a used set that will outlast a nuclear blast so buying used is not an issue. Powerblocks are built like tanks. The bowflex dumbbells are too long when being used with little weight and feel cheap. I have experience with both; I'm in the fitness industry.

I've ordered lots of stuff from there, some of it $300+.

I haven't had any issues.

Amazon has great service. It's reliable and they have good customer service in case your order DOES go awry. I'm an amazon prime member and it's amazing getting free, reliable 2-day shipping on almost everything I order. I never have to worry about anything. Order without fear!

Also, I love the bowflex single dumbells! I have the same ones.
