How long do you think it would take to swap out the turbos if you've got a good shop with the right tools and a lift?

Do you have to unbolt the engine mounts and jack up the engine to get to the turbos ?
Someone who has done this job many times can do it in 1 day.. The 1st time we did it took us 2 days taking our time.. We had to drop the subframe the way we removed them.. We did not unbolt the mounts as far as i recall..

Because its a different process for the GTR.. For the GTR they stuff true Garrett Internals into the stock housings which cost more $$.. they dont use the OEM CHRA..

This is our same goal with the 335.. You cant turn 9k RPM with the 335.. So the goal is to have the FATTEST powerband you can from 4-7k RPM.. Well see how it goes when we complete testing..

Mike
Thats what im lookin for. Sounds promising, I hope you can flirt with some of those records. I too would love to see those records in your sig.

Ya PRetty sure any AWD car is a pain in the ass a both my friends with Evo9 and Evo X sent their cars out to get clutch work done, yet when we had FWD Honda/acura it took us all of 2 hrs on our backs.

Evo X forget it.. The car is ridiculous to do clutch with all the bracketry behind the engine..

Well that is the thing. As it has been mentioned, like the 996/997TT, they are all sorts of turbo options/upgrades. They all require a specific tune.

Seems like this is the way the N54 is going too...which is cool. You will be able to hopefully find the turbos/tune/power you want for the money you want to spend.

Nice having solid options, I would assume it will only get better with this platform over the next few years.

I'm glad to see them on the forum, they know what there doing and provide testing unlike any other vendor. They put there products through extensive drag and track racing.

Again.. The price is $2400.00 shipped plus core.

Thanks!

No Mike was trying to help us out as we were not a vendor at the time on here and ETS carries the AWD 335i turbos if you guys need.. We are an ETS dealer as well.. We work together on many projects from BMW to Porsche, STi and Evo..

Luckily a tune for the n54 is 500-1000 roughly.. The Porsche tunes are 2500 and up..

What would be the cost to upgrade a single N55 turbo?

Just to correct you RB uses stock frame as well and also has a larger turbinewheel similar to turbodynamics stage 2, but I´m unsue about the effect of a larger wheel on the exhaust side. E92 fan wich has tried both stage 1 and 2 TD says that stage 2 is the most powerfull at high revs.

Will you upgrade the wastegates to prevent rattling? IMO that's an important part of the RB package, given that design flaw of the stock turbos.

I know it got a bit lost in all the posts about dynos and so forth, but the question has already been raised actually:

In the end, all who want to do a reliable turbo upgrade will have to upgrade the wastegates IMO. Turbo Dynamics do it for their stage 1 (which is if I understand it correctly similar to AWD except they use cast and not billet rotors), and RB does it for his upgrade (which is largely similar to the Turbo Dynamics stage 2 upgrade).

The portion that wears out is the internal wastegates (flapper, arm, bushing, lever, pin) which is a big difference from wastegate actuators, everyone seems to confuse the two. And BTW the new OEM actuators are actually very stout as well, I really do not believe they are upgradable, or at least not worth upgrading.
