New Zealand has won both their races so far. I think they will make a good challenge for Oracle.

That Bee shot has a lovely "feel" to it - think it's the yellow petal framing.

Looks like that Subaru commercial.
One reason why I need a UWA lens. Imagine Lenny and Carl jumping around those trees, that is if you can get them off the couch. I need to visit the giant sequoias again.

Heh, my little clowns would climb the hell out of those trees, then cry like hell when they couldn't get down! It was shot with a 24-105, so not a really a UWA. Shoot, I think I had my 16-35 in the bag, but I was just grabbing quick snaps while stopped on the side of the highway. That lens is what is on my 5D 80% of the time just because it is so versatile.
Chewy, not HDR, just ran through Color Efex Pro It should be a BMW add though 20130705-IMG_8161 by lennycarl08, on Flickr |

Good Milky Way and even got a meteor. Too bad you can't find dark skies anymore.

Joshua Tree used to be nationally ranked for having dark skies but the construction in the coachella valley has not only brought in light pollution but increased the haze index. This night it was a double whammy...It was during the 3/4 Super moon and it was during a heat wave and the high pressure system was keeping the smog/haze just stagnant. Visibility was still OK but was not optimum. I plan to go back in the fall during a new moon and definitely next spring during a new moon. I'm grateful it's only 120 miles from where I live... |

Ordinarily I would not due a pano on a moving subject, especially hand held, but I was driving home from the VA clinic yesterday and saw this show going on at the old Mare Island shipyard in Vallejo. I think this is another member of the Suisun Bay "Ghost Fleet" being shoved into dry-dock for its date with the cutting torches. They have been trying to get ride of these old ships seeping toxins into the bay for years and finally got it all worked out recently. The only camera I had in the car was my 7D with a 70-200 on it, not the best gear for a wide shot! Of course it was also directly into the sun, so the color is not the best, but it was really cool to watch the tugs do their work, and kind of sad as a bit of naval history is getting demolished. This is three files merged using CS6.
If anyone else knows more than I do about this vessel, feel free to correct me. I am an old Air Force guy Drydock at Mare Island Pano by lennycarl08, on Flickr |
