That's a lot of contrast, almost makes the craters look like holes in the moon.

I counted the cars and did the math; this train was just a hair over a mile long of new cars heading inland from the port, roughly 1500 vehicles.

This one would have worked in the Autumn contest.

I totally forgot about the contests and hadn't looked for it in weeks. Oh well, I had several that might have fit in there. Looks like some nice entries got in there.

OK, I will play! This is from my garden last year, with our resident stray, Smokey Jr, checking out the volunteer pumpkin.

My first shot with the new 5D3. Lenny kindly posed for me in the dimly lit living room. ISO 12,800 with the 40 pancake.

More exploring on my new chair (trying to come up with a cool name for it). This is from Briones ridge, overlooking the cities of Martinez and Benicia. I can't wait to get back up here on a clear winter day when the grass is green and there is no smog.

Grand Canyon Sunrise
Grand Canyon Snow Clouds Sunrise by dcstep, on Flickr This is an oldie but goodie. I'm thinking about it because printer extraordinaire, Tony Eitzel (he prints for John Fielder's galleries), just delivered a 50" print for my office wall. I'm absolutely blown away by the color depth and details. Even at that large size, you can put you eye 6" from the image and you only see more details, not pixels. I was extremely blessed to be there for such a morning, in November 2011. Knowing that I'd be shooting landscapes, I brought my big tripod so that I could shoot at ISO 100, lock the mirror up and use remote release. This image was taken at 1/30-sec. at f/11, right in the sweet spot of my 24-105mm lens. The camera was my 5D MkII, now owned by my youngest daughter. Dave
