The date codes? this tire was just revised for 2017. They should all be dot 2017. Not sure if they are producing them in various regions though that might differ.

I would take an RS4 over a federal RS-RR any day. RS4 is a better roadcourse tire and will produce greater lateral G's at temp. RS-RR fell off as it got warmer. RS-RR has the advantage in cold grip though from my experience.

The two that failed for me were 2017, as they should be.

The RS-RR's knocked two seconds off my best time at Road Atlanta, Barber and NCM. Smaller tracks about a second faster than the R-S3's I used to run. I liked the feedback they gave, and they were consistent for me as they got hot. Saturday at AMP my peak G was 1.19 with the R-S4's. My peak there with the RS-RR's was 1.28.

I ran these in 2016, are you saying there was a RSRR v2 that came out in 2017?

I will check the DOT build date on mine. I currently have two sets. From this year and last year. Last year set they were louder. That is the only difference that I have noticed. Wear and time around the track is the same. Not scientifically proven but I run them on the same tracks and same car.

That is 10 sec difference. Was it 1.19 vs 1.18 perhaps?

I got mine last year so the date code is 17-16. I was asking about the date codes so see if the people having issues were all made in the same date range

Uhhh yes... that's what all the hype is. The 2017 (maybe it was 2016?) compound is now stamped 200tw instead of 140tw. This opens up doors to them being used in autocross street classes. The speculation is that they still grip like the old 140tw version and they are dirt cheap. Mine were stamped DOT UXUY B4WN 1517.

I don't think they made any actual changes when I bought mine in 2016 all 4 where stamped 200tw but the stickers on two of them listed them at 140tw but there was no difference in the tires at all.

I think it was just a marketing decision so that you could run them in Autox st class

No, they are a NEW tire.

Pre-2016 = RSR
> 2016 = RSRR

update?

Any news or explanation regarding the tire separation issue mentioned. I'm curious what federal has to say. I'm in the market for some track tires.

I got nothing from them. They refused to help me saying "we don't work directly with customers" once I showed proof the tires were separating.

They basically have no warranty, no warranty process, and amazon was no help. I guess that's why Federal sells through Amazon/Ebay and their tires are dirt cheap.

They are pretty damn loud.

I've since switched to running NT01/RE71R for track tires as they're significantly faster and while the separation is purely cosmetic (1/4in deep max) I still don't feel comfortable running them as I see max speeds >125mph at my local tracks.

So loud and the vibration. I thought i could live with it, and I cannot. The wear has been very good though.

I don't have vibrations nor separations issues. Have taken them past 160mph quite few times. I might try the RE71 this year since these are loud! Louder than my winter tires lol. I drive this car every day. Well as long as isn't broken that is.

I think it’s the road noise that has cause it to feel like there is ‘vibration’ but maybe not. I daily drive as well, and it’s just too much.

I won't be doing any track events anyways. How do you think these would do in Mexico?

If you're asking if they hold up well - yes. But they are so loud...it's really tiring.
