I just picked up a message left on my mobile on Wednesday. My car will be ready for pick-up on Dec. 1 or 2. That's exactly 7 weeks from placing the order-can't complain.

Congrats! I'll be out of town until Friday so that's the earliest for me. Then I'll be in New Mexico most of next week so I'll only have this coming weekend to drive it! Sorta dumb, isn't it?

I got the phone message today that my car has arrived at the dealership (Habberstad on Long Island). That means it was at the VPC for 5 days, one of which was Thanksgiving and two were weekend days so not so bad. I'll probably pick it up Friday or Saturday. Really looking forward to it but maybe with not as much anticipation as others. My wife already has a 2006 325xi so I've had the experience a few times! My new one is replacing my
'97 328is which replaced my '87 635csi. Looks like every 10 years... |

My CA at Habberstad is Audra. Regarding my 10-year BMW's. The 635csi was at about 90k miles when I sold it. It had its share of minor failures but nothing I couldn't troubleshoot and fix myself. If memory serves - throttle assy (had bad switch), hydraulic accumulator ("bomb"), one front caliper, all front suspension bushings, all struts. But the car was so complex that I was starting to fear end-of-life failures so I sold it to a guy from Virginia who saw my ad in Hemmings, drove up, gave me my asking price and drove home. The car was also too big for a 2+2. My 97 328is has been reliable over its 96K miles - one radiator (neck snapped off), one water pump, auto needed a new torque converter. Still on the original rotors (quite a change from the 635). Good car but, again, I'm fearing the end-of-life for the little things that mean so much - fuel pumps, alternator, various motors, etc. Now, let me tell you about my 50-year-old Austin-Healey... |

I picked mine up on Saturday. So far I've driven it about 30 mi before leaving for New Mexico on Monday. I got a low oil indicator after about 5 mi - I have a feeling it's a bad sensor. I'll check it out when I get home.
