So for those of us without a track nearby, the Gtech is an invaluable tool for testing and tuning. It will pick up the slightest of HP increases. If I can go from 113.6 to 114mph with a performance airfilter, I will be ecstatic. I called all around Saturday, no one had a K&N for the 335i. (Autozone/Kragen/PAW, etc, etc)
You can take the Cobra, but I think the SRT10 might spank you in the 1/4... its got a Viper V10 engine and will run in the 11's.

Any one of the shops you mentioned should be able to order a K&N for you.

BTW what kind of wheels/tires combo are you running?

Nice present.........I need to find myself somthing this year.

And how did you get the weight figured out? 3571 + weight of gas. 7lb /gal.

And Is that the Gtech Pro? Whats another good alternative?

Have fun with it.

It's the Gtech Pro RR...only difference between it and the SS is the uploading to PC capability that generates the graphs (like the one I posted).

I've seen some people here use the Bel-Tronics GX2, and various other accelerometers the names of which are escaping my memory at the moment. The GX2, is about 100 buck less than the Gtech.

As far as the weight goes, I had to guesstimate, figuring in my weight and the contents of the gas tank at the time. The weight is only used to determine the estimated HP of the car, not the race times, so I'm not too worried about getting the exact weight nailed down.

So...it looks like my quarter mile runs killed my fuel pump (I think).

Short version: I found a sweet country road to do some runs. Ended up doing 12 1/4 mile runs over the course of an hour. I had absolutely no problems with the car during the runs or immediately afterwards.

Later that same day I go to start my car and get a suspiciously long crank (~2-3seconds). Initially the car drives OK, but halfway home the engine starts to run rough as hell. It almost felt like it was misfiring...every time I accelerated it shuddered as it tried to build power. Weird thing is, I get no warning lights (no half engine, etc.). At stoplights it felt like it wanted to stall, but I managed to get home without that happening.

Once I get home I shut the car off for about 2 min, and then start her up to find that it's running NORMAL. I'm guessing that my over-enthusiasm did the HPFP in.

I do have a question though...if this is the case, should I take my car in right away? In other words, even if I didn't get a half-engine light, did the car record road fault codes? And would the dealer be able to pull these a week later or are they stored very short term?

Thanks for the help

I had extremely long cranking times, 6 seconds at times, for about a 7 month period. Never had it stall on me though. But problem kind of went away lately. My car has always run strong.

Yeah, I was hoping that it would resolve on its own, but this morning on my way to work the "Service Engine Soon" light came on. It's yellow and not red (not sure what that implies exactly).

It was doing the same shuddering/misfire as last night.

The part that bugs me the most is waiting a week for them to service it

Thanks a lot Terry, The H pill at first felt really detuned, but once it adapted it felt like a monster.

Wow, make 3 runs in a row like that to make sure you can back up those runs. That is incredible trap speed. Remember, with the Gtech, axle hop, or loss of traction greatly affects the accuracy of the device. Also, did you do the Dyno run with Driver 72 and gang? I am curious what the results are? If you are really running 114mph+ in the 1/4, that is phenomenal. You have to try and make it to one of the only test and tune 1/4 track days in So Cal in the next few months: Sat Jan 5th, Fontana.
