Oh I definitely feel your pain lol..! I was in the import scene for quite a while, and it all started off with a 92' Civic VX with 82hp (got 45mpg though) that was running high 16's lol, up until my last car which I had a fully built/boosted 00' Civic SI that was in the 400hp club running 10's consistently.. And it's funny because my 335i at 300hp doesn't appear much slower on paper then the SI, but in the Civic it felt like I was going to take off into outer space when I launched lmao..! Whereas in the BMW I often look down and dont even realize I'm doing 80mph!! Oh how things have changed..!

Make sure you guys have set aside an emergency fund, you WILL brake things haha. Besides my car being a daily, that is the number one reason I chose not to do a 1/4 build. I have my drag built saleen for that. Doesn't mean I will never take the BMW to the 1/4 again, it just won't be to compete. They are very capable cars though in the right hands or if someone wants to take the time to do trial and error, break some parts, spend some extra money!

Shiv did it long ago in the spring 2012. Many posters in this thread were not yet here back then.
The car was built for road racing, not for 1/4. It had JRZ RS1 suspension. When it comes to racing from a roll, Vishnu car still holds the 335i record for 60-130MPH as well; 6.28s by Capt Insano / Vishnu. This was ages ago. Nothing has changed. People still say they could beat the records. But they don't. LOL |

Unfortunately no one really keeps up with and organizes/verifies the 60-130 list anymore. That 6.28 isn't a record as Terry did 5.96 in his FFTEC 135i a year ago. |

Vishnu still has the 60-130 MPH 335i record. What is the excuse for not beating it?
Since his car was road racing prepped, there is no good excuse for not beating his 1/4 record either. |

(Trust me everyone on forums is the best driver, the best looking and has the hottest wife/GF) Parts break regardless as there is always a weak point in any system. Mechanical parts will and always fail, even the best parts. When you are trying to anti lag full boost at 6000 RPM, on slicks with stock axles, prepare for them to break, they will break with even less abuse. (Just 1 example of how a driver is not at fault). |

With his 135 in its current trim (fairly stripped down) at 25-27 pounds, it would almost certainly break BMS' own record. Once it gets above 30 pounds I bet it'll be the quickest E8x/E9x on earth. But that's just speculation on my part. In candor, Shiv has no relevance to this platform anymore. Agreed that someone needs to take out the 1/4 mi record. I doubt it'll be a ST car, more likely that a hybrid twin car does it.

You have a 335i, why don't you go break the records then? As I said, it just isn't a top priority for a lot people.

But looking back, fueling was always a major issue, and not too many were running single snail kits in 2013/2014. I guess it just takes the right dedication and persistence to really try to get it done. This year is the year of 10's! (For real this time)

I hope to get there one day. You just need axles, LSD, drag radials, diff lockdown, and some time to dial the suspension in. Power is no longer a concern its just being able to cut a low 60ft to get there.

Then either you are driving it like a granny or it doesn't make much power. Drag racing your car WILL break things. No matter how good of a driver you are. There are too many variables that are uncontrollable by the driver. And, if you really consider yourself a drag racer, you will know that it is cut throat and granny shifting/babying your car is not going to get you anywhere if you are trying to compete.
