thats why you dont turn it off unless you know what your doing. And either way, you shouldn't turn it off anyways since it seems like you dont know what your doing. If your turning so hard and then pushing the gas down to the point where traction control keeps kicking on, its obviously a user error and your lucky the car cuts power or you'd spin out everytime.

Very well said. It's funny to me that so many people would call tracks like Horse Thief dangerous or not for n00bs, but as long as you know your limit and know what you're capable of..you will be fine. To the OP as well, know your limit before you start pushing it. You shouldn't be pushing the car in this horrible rain in the area anyways.

well, you got your answer now. Its because your doing something wrong (most likely gasing when you shouldn't) so the car is trying to correct you before you spin out. Oh and +1 to what WJ4 said, just know your limits. Its obviously not smart to power through turns and its definitely not smart to try flooring it when your tires are on a painted surface or even just in the rain. You're not going to get traction in both instances and if traction control didnt cut your power, you'd most likely slide into a pole like you said you almost did already.

Just do driver mod and dont touch the traction button, its probably for your own good.

When traction control intervenes your power, that means the tire traction on the rear is near its limit (or with some safety calculated in).
i.e.
if the traction control kicks in later, you are very likely to oversteer and crash into curb or a light pole as you stated earlier.

On public road, I suggest you to keep it on. For the safety sake of yourself and everyone else on the road.

On track days, there's no dangerous curbs, no pedestrians standing on the side waiting to cross the road, no other cars merge into your lane. There are simply less things that you can crash into.
Its a whole different situation.

True, but I heard that you can flip or really mess your car up just making a wrong move. For example, if you get half your car on the grass of the track and half on the road, the car is going to get flipped?

Here's a suggestion. Instead of spending money on more mods why don't you spend that same money to get some driving lessons instead? Hands on experience will sure beat any of our inputs on this forum.

agreed, a good session with an advanced driving instructor is called for by the sound of it.

THEN when you're ready the Quaife LSD will STOP the Traction light, but you WILL need to know how to use it or it WILL spit you onto the sidewalk !

Stop banging your head against this brick wall...I have tried, time and again, to get the OP to go to driver's school. He always offers weak, lame, pathetic excuses like the hassle of getting a tech inspection or hassle/cost of buying a helmet.

OP...stop being a p***y. February 2, 2008 will be the first BMW CCA auto-x. No need for a tech inspection in advance and they have helmets they will loan you. There is virtually no way to hurt yourself or the car. There will be an instructor with you all day. Cost is $80 including helmet rental. There...all of your lame excuses are gone. http://bmwclubla.org/calendar.php

No...I've done that in Performance Driving School at BMW Performance Center in South Carolina during the skid pad practices. No...the car will NOT flip, it just slides further because of less friction on grass.
the only way your car will flip was it hit a curb or something that act as a pivot point!

Now...go take some car controll lessons and learn some vehicle dynamics!

I fail to see where are you heading with this. How do you want the car to 'react' when you're turning? Are you trying to be like Takumi?
