Age: 18
What: friend's Ford Escort Where: on 90 a few miles from the IL border Why: A couple years after getting out of high school, my close friends and I all happened to be home for Xmas so we got together at my friend's house in the middle of nowhere. At the time, you only needed to be 18 to get into Ho-Chunk Casino up in WI so it used to be a periodic, short road trip for our circles. Around midnight, we made the ~3.5 hour drive up to the casino. On the way back, 2 of my friends were passed out in the back and my other friend, who was driving, started falling asleep. We pulled over to get gas and I took over driving. Heading back out on 90 towards IL, there was a State Trooper hiding between snow banks with all lights completely off on his vehicle. I got tagged, pulled over, and ticketed for going.....slightly over the speed limit.... This was around 0600 on 12/27/98....the same day the Bears played the Packers......I still smell conspiracy.

1987, 16 years old, just got my license the day before. Took my parents 1984 Olds Cutlass Supreme (V8) to the store (first time driving alone) and got stopped at a rail road crossing and decided to race train along side road that ran parallel to tracks. Was doing 60 in a 30 when I noticed the flashing lights in my rear view mirror.

I was 18 and driving a 1993 Camry (manual). I was late for an internship day so I was flying to get there. I got caught doing 56 in a 25 - $360 ticket. Lady cop was really mad. I pleaded not guilty and the DA thought having to bring my mom to court was punishment enough so I had to donate $100 to a local charity and was off the hook. Remains my highest fine to this day.

1986, Merkur XR4ti, I was 18.
Trying to impress my best friend with my new car's 0-60 time, got caught doing 65 in a 35. The funny thing was, I had all the windows down and the moonroof open. As the motorcycle cop started dressing me down, telling me Cooper st. wasn't a raceway, my friend was looking at the cop through the moonroof and started laughing at him. The cop in question was infamous at my hs for setting up speed traps around our hs and pulling students over. Turns out, my friends father had worked as a police officer previously with this motorcycle cop. Lucky for me, I only got the ticket (and 5 others that year, but that was the only ticket I got from that particular officer). |

I was 14 driving a Toyota. It was a stick and so I rolled back quite a bit and stalled, which caught the officer's attention. the phone book on the seat didn't help matters (that was a joke, the first part was truth).

I was 19 at the time, kinda got into the solo of a song I haven't heard and didn't notice that I was going faster than I thought.
Unbeknownst to me when I moved to the area, there'd be a cop with a radar gun that likes to set up camp on unexpected streets... The stretch with a higher speed limit and no signals for 2 miles? Never saw a cop there. Where was I nabbed? A major residential street with a signal every 1/4 mile.

I was 12, with two of my buddies, who decided to take the family caravan for a joyride LOL.
We were on road for atleast an hour, McDonalds drive thru and all. Cop pulled us over, there was a pile of tickets and phone calls after that. |

Ford Focus 83 in a 65 Pulled over by an unmarked Ford F-150 state trooper while passing a semi to get to my exit. I don't miss Indiana, no wonder they have a budget surplus. |

Well, I saw him do a U-turn behind me so I knew I was getting a visit so sure enough, he pulled me over. But he recognized me from walking my dog on a street he patrols and let me off with a warning. He actually complimented me on spotting him so far off and thought that was pretty impressive. So then we got to talking cars and that, all good. |

When I was 18, they just completed construction on a road right out of my house where they expanded the road from a small two lane road to a big 2 lane road with a middle lane in it. Speed limit used to be 35 but there was a temporary speed limit of 25.
I was clocked by a motorcycle cop going 38. I even waved at him when I saw him... Ending up getting a ticket for going 13 over but was able to prevent it from showing up on my driving history by taking a class. |

1996 I was 26 & was caught by a mobile speed camera van, he was plotted up on a bridge over a local duel carriageway. I didn't even know I'd been caught speeding until I got the court summons through the post.
I was driving my 1991 e34 M5 & got clocked twice within the hour 106mph going up the road & 117mph on the way back down. I very was lucky as I received 6points & a £800 fine
