already ordered a CDV a few days ago...I am really hoping that makes as much of a difference as everyone says. I'll hold judgement on the need for a clutch stop until I get that in. Does that make it feel as good as the clutch in your E36?

I've done the CDV delete. It helps smoothen out the shifts when shifting quickly...but it doesn't help you shorten the clutch travel. I wouldn't mind if I could take out about an inch of clutch travel...so I'm keeping my eyes peeled for a solution that takes care of the clutch switch.

I have tried starting up the car without the clutch pedal fully depressed (only 80% pushed in)...doesn't work...car won't start.

Yup, I tried the same thing yesterday, mine won't start either.

Just tried my post-March 2007 E90 335i, and the car will start with the cluth pedal out a little bit (trans in neutral.) I'd estimate at least 3/4" of travel, maybe closer to 1" or 1"+.

this is my first manual car so forgive the noob question, if the clutch pedal isn't fully depressed via a clutch-stop, aren't you wearing the clutch faster since its not completely disengaging? or am I wrong and does it completely disengage before the pedal hits the floor?

The clutch is disengaged well before the pedal is floored, otherwise by your logic, you could begin slipping the clutch immediately after it is released. Though I find this car's clutch begins to catch quite low, you still have some free travel to the floor after it is disengaged.

Anytime! Another thing to keep in mind w/the clutch stop installed is that the clutch will also engage much lower than stock (must get on the gas sooner/quicker to prevent stalling), but then again that's pretty much the point of having it in place.

Still don't know if this clutch stop thing is worthwhile, but UUC's SSK looks pretty nice... would combine that w/the DSSR and one of their big heavy RKs.

Interesting... I wonder if the e92-lighting guys can chime in on this. Do you think the clutch is really completely disengaged when this stops it? I'm gonna check my clutch tonight to see how much play there really is before the clutch engages. I might be willing to try this.
