The only thing that suffered from my indecision is the loss of my vs8's. They are being shipped out tomorrow. They were in perfect shape and now they're gone

So this is affecting both JB3 and Procede V3???

I did not notice it when I was running v2, pre 15k service. At some point after the BMW service, (supposedly no doomsday update), and v3 install, I began to perceive this noise. It does feel to me as if the car is being slightly held back, but that also could be my imagination. I ran at the track against another v3 car, and a JB3 car about a month ago, and there was really not much difference between the cars. I was even slightly faster.

Never a limp, Never a CEL.

That's pretty much where I am hearing it too.....left side of the engine and sometimes sounds like its behind as well (additional exhaust resonation??).

Noticed it with the JB3 1.2 revision under map 6. I think perhaps it's related to the lag fix extra boost.

Might explain why Procede owners are hearing something similar.

Does it sound like growling 4x4 tires, modulating? I think thats pretty common with higher boost levels. My guess is its something in the intake tract that resonates at times. Especially on the left side of the engine.

It's more of a groaning noise.....but it is a little similar to a 4x4 tire noise.

Left side would suggest the intake side....I have dual cones on.

Seems related to high boost/high load conditions, but I never heard it on previous versions prior to 1.2.

If it's common to high boost levels then I guess it could be resonating into the intake tract from the turbos, but it's such a low frequency that I don't think it's originating from them.

Maybe the wastegates aren't quite sealing under high boost demand and this creates a harmonic sound wave of a particular frequency?

It wont do it on the stock map though. I thought it was exhaust related then I thought I might be going crazy. I think I might try something different anyway and go with a new procede race.Ive never had one and Im thinking of finally trying it. Maybe the noise might go away..Who knows.
Yes. That is it. That's what I get. I did not get it with V2, and I was running just as high of boost level back then.

I feel so much better now that I know its not just my car and that its probably okay. I still would rather not have it but oh well. I now need to figure out the awful idle and misfire. It feels like its going to stall out. I hate the fear Ive given myself of going to the dealer. whatever happens happens. I love this forum

You're not imagining things at all by the sounds of it.

But I am not so quick to conclude that this noise is OK.

It certainly doesn't sound right to me and it sounds like something is strained.

Perhaps over time we will get to the source of it with the help of others on this forum who identify with these symptoms.

I too am glad I am not the only one noticing this. I feel a bit better that others are hearing the same noise, but it does seem strained, and I can't help but be a little concerned..

I think the confusion here is that there are 2 separate issues. Some people are hearing a roaring/groaning sound. Which I don't think is the issue.

The OP mentioned a rattle and SHUDDER. Doesn't seem like anyone else is experiencing a shudder which goes beyond the audible symptons. It's a vibration, hesitation, shudder from the engine bay. That sounds like detonation, & not the normal groaning the others are hearing.

True. But is there an answer to the groaning sound without rattle, shudder, hiccup, hesitation etc. that some of us are noticing?

Yes, just induction noise. It will be more obvious with dual intakes than stock airbox. This is, of course, assuming that we are talking about the same roar. This does not apply to those who are hearing rattling, getting shudders, hesitations, etc.,

I'm not so sure.

Mine is a definite groaning at high boost/high load low rpm's, but sometimes I think it's coming from the front and sometimes from the rear.

I often wonder whether it's the e-differential straining with the torque because there is a little bit of a shudder to it.

My car has traditionally swerved to the left when losing traction and the noise also emanates from the left.

It doesn't feel like detonation because there is no lack of power or timing being pulled. In fact the engine feels very strong. It just groans on the inital takeoff.

I have felt timing pull back on the race map and there is a definite performance reduction and sluggish acceleration when this happens. This feels nothing like that.

You sure you are not runing the NASCAR version of the maps? I only ask because in NASCAR the cars go in ovals always turning left, and they do groan a lot too...

I think it's the low pressure fuel pump. I had this same sound that seemed to come from the left rear under wot. Just a groaning sound. I took it in and they replaced my low pressure fuel pump (in the fuel tank). Hasn't happened since.
