Bummer... what are the fenders made out of that they crack? I thought they're metal that wouldn't?

The E92 front fenders are plastic. Helps with the weight distribution, I expect.

Someone backed into me in December (remember Soni?) and since it is mainly just damage on the DD front bumper, I'm taking it to a fairly ghetto place tomorrow to get fixed up. The guy's done good work on our other cars, so I'm willing to take a chance with my E90, and will let you know how it turns out.

I'm sure he would quote your job at around 4k.

what?!?!?!?!?! nooooo

I don't think 7k is out of the question on this. It might be a bit high but I don't think it's unreasonable. You need a new bumper, two new fenders and more important probably a lot of replaced parts under the bumper. That + paint + labour can easily be $5k+. RMP and Bimmersport aren't body shops, but they can help point you in the right direction. RMP is located right in front of European Autobody, which *is* a body shop, I'd get a quote there and at 427 Auto (Kipling & the QEW area, Evans Ave).

^+1...... i got rear-ended a little while back. here was my original post:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=185862

although it didn't look like much damage at the time..... it took the body shop 3 weeks to fix it and the final bill to the insurance company was 6900$.

once they took the bumper off... they showed me a whole mess of problems underneath. the impact was so hard some of the car's crumple zones had given way.

good luck with the repairs... and definitely sucks to see... bmw's are definitely not cheap to fix.

I just received my estimate this morning ............ $10,542.00 US not including whatever else they may find once they "tear" into it. Your estimate, IMHO, isn't so over the top ......

I have used Koebel's in Waterloo twice in the last five years. They are just around the corner from BMW Waterloo. They did excellent work both times. The first time was in 2003, $14k in front end damage to my e46. I still have the car, and it still works great. A few months ago they did a new door and blend job on my wifes Tundra, it turned out real nice as well.

Actually, it isn't so much the weight distribution as it is to absorb the force of a collision. I was told this by both the insurance adjuster as well as the body shop owner ...... my .02

well went to European Auto Body, Emanu was a cool dude, took my car apart and showed me exactly what was wrong. Went through the entire quote and it came out to 7.2k. Cars in the shop, and should be done in about a week.
