I had my M3 remapped at Birds and no, there wasn't any real noticeable difference.

If I was being kind, I'd say it sharpened up the throttle response to the point where it was a bit too sharp in Sport Plus mode (through M Drive) but that's about it.

Now, when I had the 100 cell cat exhaust system fitted...that made a big difference particularly in mid range (I just didn't like the noise).

E92 m3 remapped well will give up to 20hp to the ground and thats not only top end, i mean it will give a gain from as little as 2000 rpm all the way to rev limit. and this is without increasing any rev limit at all.

There is a certain restriction that bmw applied to the new m3 and also the e60 m5, which when unlocked will give a gain in itself. Then you have the normal tuning changes left like fuel, timing, vanos changes etc....

i feel that most tuners in the u.k miss this restriction because unless they know it is there they would not find it in the software.

combine this with some exhaust mods, and it should be awesome.

Palmball i have been watching the post you had regarding your remap by birds, am i right in thinking that a second map was loaded on the car when the exhaust was fitted?

if this is the case it would be difficult to distinguish how much of the difference was down to the exhaust and how much the second map no?

Regards

So do you think that the map provided by Evolve overcome this restriction?

Correct.

The 1st map was very disappointing and it severely increased fuel consumption.

The 2nd map was put on at the same time as the exhaust so I agree it would be difficult to tell what impact the map itself had....however, when I took the exhaust off I definately noticed the difference in the drop in performance, mainly mid-range response.

The map did have a marked impact on throttle response more than anything which made it 'feel' very responsive to throttle inputs, especially with the Power button pressed.

I still don't feel that the performance gain (if there actually was any) was worth the considerable cost.
