BMW just called. They are planning to replace the transfer case and motor, though the tech had already left, so they didn't have more information.

Your problem could jsut be a wheel bearing given the knocking from the wheel and per other posts.

I test drove a 2007 328xi with 47K. It drove nicely but after driving 6-8 km taking on ramp, with the pong sound following warning lights came up.
DSC, 4x4 and DBC.

Stopping the car and taking the key off for 20 mins and starting the car only showed service due.

I really like the car but I don't know this can be fixed with reasonable amount. What could be the issue here.

Cheers

I had this issue with only 4000 miles on the car. The wheel speed sensor was not functioning. 1 day in the shop and the next day back in my driveway.

I installed the Front and Rear PDC sensors, just got done putting everything back except the front bumper since I need to modify the front bumper support and still need to do the programming to add VO $508, etc.

So I turned the car on after 2 to 3 weeks of sitting in the garage working on it and I get the error 4X4 AWD, etc error. I also get Start-Off inactive error. I will post picture of these errors when I get home. Also I press the Hill Assist button doesnt work, I dont get it lit up like the heated seats and the DTC button I press I dont get the symbol on the dashboard lit up. When I installed couple of weeks ago the new switch that had the Front PDC button included they worked.

Any ideas what i did?

Or do I need to go to the dealership

Thanks in advance

If you disconnected your battery or it needed a charge then it's normal, turn the wheel from end to end and it should go away.

Did you guys change your tire-wheel set up?because I read from another post that bigger wheel /tire set up particularly 235/35/19front 265/30/19 rear is not good for the transfer case . BTW before I read that post I just ordered that wheel tire set-up earlier this morning now I'm nervous about that happening to my 335xdrive

Ppl say that it is ok on bmws bc it comes staggered standard with sport package, but my concern is that most aftermarket setups are much heavier despite the 1%. The additional weight will put additional strain on the transfer case.

Also, I think the 2011 xi m-sport wheels are square so sadly I have to keep it that way.

For most ppl who are leasing it's not really a problem, but long term I would be concerned...

I didnt disconnect the battery but the car sat in the garage for 3 weeks. I will do what you suggested tomorrow morning and see if that takes care of the issue

Just double checked my wheels and they are staggered so I retract my previous statement lol.

I'm amazed how heavy the stock wheels are, including the 193s.

Yes, the stock wheels are freakin' heavy. After toting around VMRs that everyone swore were "heavy" compared to others I was looking at, I picked up the stock wheels and they felt like 1.5x heavier

Hi I’m having issues my 328xi
Engine lights comes on , abs sensor , 4x4 traction dsc when check it showed speed sensor error which I replaced but still error codes are the same swapped them and still shows the rear left is an issue bmw says that I need to replace the bearing and hub but I have no sound while driving and not sure if engine light is on because of this issue and is related?
It’s showed that there is a gap like space between the bearing which is not allowing to detect the speed of the car and that’s why it’s causing all this issue. Not sure if I should replace the bearing or maybe it’s some other issue.

Could be a corroding axle, right? That sensor doesn't take a lot of corrosion to start throwing that code
