I'm on my third HPFP and I am getting long starts again. I called my dealer yesterday and they told me that the car was not "designed" to use ethanol gasoline....that there might be some "leaking around the injectors" causing fuel build in the cylinders causing long starts....I told them that I am not going to call them again until the car will flat out just not start and they can come and tow it. (and drop off another loaner) By the way I do not get any limp mode warnings at long starts and rough idle. Nothing but amaco ultamate

What are the manufacturers of the HPFP? I read that there is two or three different brands. Siemens, Bosch, what else? Maybe one of the manufacturer has a bad batch.

Not worth the labor costs for this part, IMO ... this would cause costs exceeding an exchange. High pressure fuel pump issues are not that unusual with BMW's. The BMW turbo diesels, having a common rail injection operating at much higher pressure tell the whole story. I personally thought we have an ethanol issue with the 335i. I have been wrong and I never got a warning light or message.

Ive got a 72 R75/5 that has not had the valve seats replaced for non leaded gas. That dam bike would run on kerosene. It is the only BMW I would never sell. (My dad bought it brand new in 72) Just a quality piece of machinery built over 35 years ago....sign of the times I guess...BMW quality has taken a nose dive IMO

Got the HPFP replaced today. Brought the car to the dealership in the morning and got it back at 4 pm. Car was cleaned inside and outside as well. Software had not to be updated because the turbos have been replaced recently. Car has 45.000 miles now. Very good service

Just got these codes from my new BT tool (I had a limp mode around 100 km back, in line with the event 3) - I guess my HPFP is giving up as well.

![]() I suppose it's just better to alternate the gas brands and not stick to only one. It's like eating the same food everyday...something will be wrong after some time ![]() Good luck !
