When you buy the JB3 it will have the latest 1.4 software then when the 2.0 is released all you will need is to buy the new USB cable and download the software for free. the cable is going to be cheap so no worries there. The upgrades to the maps are free.

you dont need to do anything really other than put it in and stomp on the gas a bunch.lol Give it a day or 2 to adapt fully with harder than normal driving.

1.4 takes a little longer to adapt, so its good to drive it for a few days in all conditions. The full throttle adaptation is quicker and takes a few WOT pulls, but the partial throttle adaptation takes a little longer, so best to go out and drive and have fun 2-3 days and all will be good.

You can start with map3 for the first day and then move to map5.

Hey all,

Just installed my JB3!

everything went relatively smooth...i set it to map 3, let the car warm up and noticed a decent amount of extra power...after bout 10 WOT runs, i changed to map 5 and MUCH bigger difference, although its raining in NYC right now; i get slip 24/7 ...cant wait to try this in the dry...

Edit:
Forgot to mention:
---CEL came on when doing 3rd run on map 5...maybe need more time to adapt? Brad; can you chime in??

For any support related item just email BMS. May be normal adaption ormay be a sign of some problem. Depends on the details of the code. I think you got the BT right? If so scan it and see what is going on. i got a CEL after a few days with mine on but it was my fuel pump and not related to the JB3 then got another one for a misfire. email Terry at burgertuning.com he will reply pretty fast.

did you get the CEL after the car had a lot of wheel spin in the rain?

When you shut the car off and turned it on again the CEL was gone right?

Keep doing WOt pulls and see what happens, should just be a adaption issue at most.

What supporting mods do you have to run on map5?

What octane are you using? Should be 93 on Map 5 with no supporting mods.

I'm running map 5 with 93 octane gas mobil. No other supporting mods. NYC temp is low 50's.

Brad: I've been having a bit of wheel spin anyways because of the rain.

5soko: Yeap, when I turn the car back on, it's fine.

----Should I adapt the car more on map 3 before map 5??

Thanks!

ya I think I said that in my first post here to you. Putting it on map 3 first and then switching to map 5 after you have run it a few days with no issues. I am sure it needs more adaptation time though.

Think map 5 is a bit agressive with no other supporting mods and thats probably why you car limped...

He he wait until you upgraded to catless dp's, fmic, dci and exhaust on map 7...thats scary....

Try out map 3 again for a few days if you want, and then go to map 5... i have heard of people getting limps within the first 10 WOT pulls with the Jb3 installed. so i would say keep running your car on map 5 and see if it happens again. if it does drop it down to map3 and or get a bt cable and scan .

I was under the impression that you can run up to Map 5 with no supporting mods as long as you use 93 octane at all times. If that is not the case, the JB3 doesn't make much sense for those running without additional mods since the only map you really have available is map 3.

How does map 3 compare with JB+ at 100%? I am really hoping to be able to run map 5 to get that additional power that I so desperately crave but I still need to be able to return my car to stock rapidly and without significant effort.

Lastly, the one of the posters mentions ambient temp. Would map 5 be out of the question if it is above 90F? Here in Texas, that is like 9 months of the year with up to 2-3 months of 100F or so.

You can run Map5 on 93 octane and nothing else, some cars arent up to the task i.e. plugs, coils, injectors, L/HPFP, etc. and they might throw CEL. But i think this was just a adaption limp and nothing more.
Heck i ran map 7 on 93 octane and no mods in 85*F temps and car ran fine. Then again my car is damn healthy, and THIS IS NOT ADVISED TO DO.

I would recommend an intake if you want to run map 4/5, and leave map3 if you are completely stock as thats the safe recommendation. Some cars are happy to run map 4/5 or even map 6/7 stock but everybody's mileage varies.

Map3 is still a great improvement over the JB+ as its a little more boost, has lagfix, has more power under the curve and delivers a smoother power curve IMO over the JB+

you can run map 5 on 93 but like I have said before it is a good idea to start the car off on map 3 first then go to map 5 but an intake is always a good idea.

Brief review

Ok, so for those who have been thinking about the JB3, GET IT. NOAW!

Finally had a nice day in NYC and was itching all day to drive the new animal. In the rain, it was a poor test to determine the difference.

Driving in 'D' in top gear had more than sufficient power at around 65+ mph to take this animal to 85+ instantly.

Sport mode felt even more crisp and thunderous. It sounds a lot better and for some reason the exhaust note as well. If you thought it was easy to reach 100+mph, think again. Better keep your eye on the speedo! Passing speed, 55-85 mph, don't even worry.

Very civilized road manners and more grunt throughout the rev range.

I've got to say I love this car more and more everyday. It's like buy two cars for the price of one! It's can be an animal but tame at the same time.

Thanks Brad for a great product!
