What is the current Nav system version?

I am new to the BMW family. I am picking up my 07 335i tomorrow and was wondering if there are any updates available for it and it will make a dramatic change. Any tricks to get the dealer to do it for free?

Yep. For now, 2009-1 DVD is last pre-LCI E90 nav version.

I have not noticed any differences between my previous 2009.2 and this new Premium 2010 update that the BMW rep did.

If you do the voice command "Navigation", "Enter Address" - do you get the option to enter a full address in a single sentence?

Just got updated to ISTA/P 36.1 - Radio preset glitch and couple of other ipod / usb stick annoyances have also been fixed. The cars performance also seems to be quicker and more responsive.

How did you request the update ? Did you only get the car software update or does it also include idrive and map updates as well.

I had the radio preset issue, a couple ipod / usb stick issues with the playlists and I could feel some lag in the acceleration.

The idrive system software is included in this update. The navigation system is a separate software module. I checked the version when I came home and it still shows

That's funny. I was told by my dealer (twice) that whenever I bring car in for service, any Nav updates available will be included in the service, at no additional charge. (I'm in Canada too.)

So I guess I'm wondering why they didn't update your Nav software at the same time as your iDrive update...

I got 36.0 and it came with bugs of its own. When you navigate to a destination from your Address Book, how is the destination listed in the Last Destinations list? Is it missing the destination name and street? Just lists the city?

That makes sense if an update is available. When they read your keyfob it checks to see if a new integration level is available. In my case is said yes hence the software getting updated to 36.1
It also has a section for navigation updates available and mine said no.

BTW - I like the color combo you picked, looks really good

So I went down to my dealer today and they said that they just received a new software update last week for the cars but, here is the catch. They say that you must buy the new 2010 discs and then purchase the new software coming out to a total cost of $530.00 plus tax. Seems a little steep to me.

I thought the new 2010 discs came with the software upgrades, no?

Does anyone know if this is the update that gives you the single address commands (the new voice command software)? What else is on this update?

I checked this out for you and what I found was a bit odd. I have my BlackBerry paired up. If I look at the contact the address is messed up. It looks like the car is mapping the address to the address2 and city field of the BB. Pic-1 & 2 & 4

If I add an address to the cars address book manually. It will drop the name when looking at it in the Last Destinations screen. The first line is for Parkview BMW.

Darn, that means the bug introduced in ISTA/P 36.0 remains in 36.1. This "feature" was not in previous ISTA/P. What is happening is that Last Destinations is not storing the name of the destination from the Address Book. Now try navigating to a POI. The Last Destinations list does include the name of POI destinations. This is actually pretty annoying, since now I have to guess what prev. destination is in the list.

How about pop-up arrows? Do you get them when navigating in full screen map mode? I read a post where someone got the 2010 maps loaded (there was a recall on 2010 maps for the last couple months). If ISTA/P does not fix pop-ups, then the nav software might.

Yes, previous ISTA/P version I had prior did not have this issue.
I will check out the pop-up arrows for you tomorrow.

You still need to have the keyfob read. If you ask for a key print out you will get a 2 page report. Look for Integration Level and match it up to this chart to determine ISTA/P or Progman version.
