so is it a common theme to notice increased hpfp failure or at least earlier due to tunes? we know its inevitable, but does it facilitate failure?

1) Do you have a tune? - YES
2) What Kind? - JB3 ALPHA 7/4
3) Miles when first tuned - 500 KMS (MAP 1 TILL 1500 KMS)
4) Current mileage - 23000 KMS
5) Problems w/ tune (direct result). - Don't know if it is a direct result but experiencing long cranks for past 2 weeks. Probably HPFP but gonna change plugs this weekend just to see if it makes a difference.

yes it does. HPFP's are well known to go out often and randomly however consider this. I replaced my HPFP at 50k. Put the tune in and 500 miles later long cranks and half engine light.

I replaced mine at 1,500 miles stock. Then I put on the tune and I am at ~5,500 with no issues.

Consider that.

Anyone who tries to draw any real conclusion about the cause / effect of hpfp failure due to a tune based on sample size this small is a fool. If 5000 ppl respond to this thread then perhaps you have some usable data. with 20 responses you have nothing.

1) Do you have a tune? Yes
2) What Kind? JB3 1.3 -> 1.4 -> 2.0
3) Miles when first tuned - 100km/60 miles
4) Current mileage - 42,000km/26,097miles
5) Problems w/ tune (direct result). - Have to change spark plugs every 20,000km/12,500miles & will never be as fast on 1/4 mile as E90 & 92 with similar tunes

I thought the hpfp was more related to the fuel you guys use in the states? Hardly any n54's suffer from hpfp probs here in uk, maybe im wrong but I heard its something they put in US fuel?
