I'm new here...this seemed like a good place for my 1st post.

On 8/21 I ordered my first BMW (a 328xit - blue water/oyster - 6MT, ZVP, ZPP, ZSP, xenon, HK, heated steering wheel, roof rails). It was a modification to a car already in line for production. Today the 800# status is "vehicle production is complete - waiting to be released to the carrier."

I just sent an email to my CA to see if he had more info. The wait is killing me!

My first post too. I have a little information:

I ordered 8/23. Configuration of a scheduled production vehicle. Vehicle produced 9/3/10. The BMWusa website did not update this for 5 days. The car was then transported and sat in Bremerhaven until 9/15. It is now on the Tamesis. The Website just updated today "en route".

If you do a google on "how to track BMW" the first link is great.

I got the most up to date information by calling the 1-800 number for BMW and asking for the VIN number after it was produced. Once I had that, I went to the Wallenius and Wilhelm site frequently (my wife would say too frequently) and checked to see if they had the car. You do this by doing the cargo search and entering the vin for your car.

Mine should be in Baltimore on 9/29 and I should get it a week later.

This has been one of the worst waits I have ever endured. I don't think I could handle ordering from BMW again because the info is enough to just tease you, particularly through the production and "waiting at port" phases. I feel somewhat better now that its on a ship.

Yup, called again today and mine is still scheduled for production as of September 13th with no exact start date. The original order went in on July 22nd and my salesperson went in and modified it for me on August 17th. I can't believe it's taking so long! So don't feel too bad.

I ordered mine on 21 July, and I wont get it before mid october. Ship arrives at POE on 06 Oct. Your wait is not as long as many others. You should be happy

I hear you, tracking is addictive . I am refreshing sailwx.com every 3 hours or so.

Welcome to the forum!

Congrats and welcome to the forum.

Looks like your car will be with you pretty soon. Another month I guess. Great color combo

This is ridiculous. Why was your order modified? Did you change something?

I am almost in the same boat, but atleast on a ship now, with the car on its way on Don Carlos.

Any new updates on when the car will be ready for you? Good luck man, this is long wait indeed.

@bavarianboar: I put my order in on August 17th, and my salesperson modified a car that was already in line for production in order for me to get it sooner. Clearly that didn't work out too well!

My first lesson from this little adventure is that Europe really does seem to shut down in August. It seems that late July orders get screwed the most. I realize I am lucky with 6.5 weeks. The sales guy said that 8-12 weeks is normal and I would have lost it at around 8 weeks. Hopefully everything goes smooth from here.

I just couldn't believe how hard it was to find a car with options anywhere near what I wanted. If you want manual transmission, its pretty much over.

Thanks for the welcome bavarianboar! Super excited about the car! I went thru the same thing when I ordered my MINI in 2004 and remember that the 6 - 8 weeks seemed like a lifetime.

Emailed my dealer yesterday (try to only bug him once a week ) and he said the car is being transported to the port. Today the 800# matches that info (vehicle is being transported to port of exit) so it seems the 800# is 24hr behind my dealer's info. Dealer said he expects it in no later than 10/18 - and if earlier he'll let me know. He had no ship name yet, but should have it early next week.

I think I read somewhere the next ship goes on 9/22, so it would be great if it makes it on that one. Looking forward to tracking it across the ocean (hopefully the hurricanes are gone by then).

That ship is the Fidelio. (I'm hoping to get on that one as well). You can track its progress at www.marinetraffic.com

I hope to get on Fidelio as well! My car completed production on the 16th and was shipped out to port on the 17th. I think it has a good chance at making Fidelio!

I'm at the Wallenius website but I don't know where to input my VIN to find the tracking info.

Nevermind guess my car is not on there. . . my VIN does not show up. Does anyone know where else to look? My car was released to a carrier last week and it is en route. I asked my CA for an update but it is taking him forever to reply.

Unfortunately the W&W tracking site can be severely delayed. The only way to get accurate information on which ship its on (without W&W) is from your CA.

Excellent, thanks. The 800# has my car "at port, awaiting shipping vessel" so hopefully it makes it on the Fidelio. I think my CA is thinking it won't make this ship as he thought the week of Oct. 18 it would be at the dealer.

When I ordered my MINI in '04, my car was at port earlier than my new one has been currently and it still didn't make the ship - it went a few days later on the next ship - so we shall see with this one...

Mine is still in transport to the port of exit so the chances of it getting on Fidelio are slipping by the day....

I don't think my car made it on the Fidelio - I checked with my CA and it shows the car is still "at port awaiting shipping vessel". He did say there was a slight chance his info isn't the most current as they were having computer issues, but I'm thinking my car missed the boat... Bummer...

Just FYI, there was another ship that left (for the East coast) on 9/18 - Sunlight Ace. It's currently somewhere in the Atlantic heading for Georgia. I ended up getting on that. It's due to arrive in NJ on 10/1/10. I definitely lucked out with that turn-around time; completed production 9/15 and made it out of port on 9/18.

Congrats Serg...that IS a great turn around!

For me...I made it on the Fidelio! I called the 800# this morning and still got the message "at port, awaiting shipping vessel." By chance I went to w&w website and typed in my vin and up it popped. Looks like it was booked on the Fidelio on 9/14 and received yesterday, 9/22 at 10pm.

So mine completed production 9/17 and made it on the ship 9/22 - due to arrive NY 10/6. I'm so excited!!
