It won't matter what you drive, you will still have an enjoyable day.

We are keeping this a strictly BMW meet for reasons obvious

If the poll in the other thread was anything to go buy, then maybe 15 people? some will drop out but then throw a handful of 1ers into the mix.

Not sure what absolute crew is!
This is the current 1er attendance:

The rendezvous will be at a place pretty central so people can find it easily, but I do recommend you take your car for a drive! You'll have tonnes of fun discovering the joys of BMW ownership. God damn I sound like some marketing dude from BMWAG but there's no way else I can put it.

I'm thinking of this more as a chance to meet the poeple on the forum and do a bit of a drive, rather than committing myself to a full day's driving. I was wondering if we could consider an alternative where we meet up, then drive for about 1.5 hours, have lunch and maybe consider going home on the freeway (the easy way).
The drive to our lunch destination should be no longer than 1.5-2hrs including meeting up, having a chat etc. You are free to go home at any time

The 1ers seem to really outnumber the 3ers, comeon E90s and E92s, we gotta represent!

was just going thru" some meetup drive threads in the US sections and noticed some dealerships even provide BMW goodies to advertise their dealerships to BMW drivers when they go on drive meets..wonder if we could get one here in Sydney to do that

an example here:

A BIG THANK YOU TO OUR MAIN SPONSOR....

PASSPORT BMW of Marlow Heights, MD

Much appreciation for your continuous support and recognition of our community. Even prior to your gracious corporate sponsorship, you guys have always come through with your great pricing and awesome customer service. It's no wonder that there are quite a number of us here within the DC metro community, who are happy Passport customers (myself included)

Special thanks once again to Mr. Dave Myers (sales manager), Mr.Yves Badji (CA) , Mr. Peter Brizan (CA) and Mr. Mohammed Afshar (CA) for coming out on your free day to host the meet. Special mention to Mr. Joe Long (General Sales Manager) for signing off on the sponsorship package. And also thanks to all your staff members who helped in the setting up and cleaning up of the event site.

Once again, Passport BMW contributed: event site/location.setup and facilities, food and beverages (well done ), E90/E92 335i for test drive/demo, BMW windbreaker/jackets for prize drawing, awesome goodie bags (ceramic mug, shirt, cap and literature) and printing of commemorative plate tags and ceremonial key fob.

Thanks to our other prize sponsor, Mr. Raja from Exotic Auto Concepts Inc. for donation of 1 e46 headlight + mirror and one for e90/e92 headlight + mirror clear bra package and to our very own Mr. Shimshimhada for donation of 1 all-inclusive Zaino detail package (PM him for appointments )

Also to our vendor/technical exhibitor attendee...the guys from Custom Performance Engineering (CP-E) there to demonstrate the custom works done on Aznevoviii's 335i.

Personally, I would like to keep BMW Dealers out of this. It really has nothing to do with them. I also don't want to be advertising one dealer over another. It is up to people to shop around and decide on the best deal for them. I also doubt that they would approve of such a drive once filled in on the details Plus I dunno if those people running tunes etc.. will want BMW seeing their vehicle. When they take their car in to the dealer for a broken something, I wonder whether they will be refused warranty work........

well, that would be classified as back stabbing if they do that and would surely be a loss of any effort they would put into sponsoring a meet thru" loss of goodwill...while am all for BMW or dealers thanking their fans by handing out real goodies(considering is usually a one way street with we handing out goodies in cash to them), true that's making things complicated and better to keep it simple.

I got to agree with SBC. I hppe that people will attend "for the love of it".

If the dealers want to organise their own events with prizes or special offers, then thats another matter.

Looking like a good turnout. 20+ bimmers on a drive day should be fun.
