Penn - wasn't being a dick. Sorry if it came out that way. Long week at work with a caseload of patients that just takes it out of ya.

The car looks like its behaving nicely. The AFR's are still a bit leaner than I would prefer but nothing we can really do about that until Shiv opens up some maps for us.

This is the third dyno graph I've seen that confirms the power curve Shiv posted just before the DIC maps came out. Impressive!

Once the bugs are worked out, it'll be a joy to drive.

for AFR when i log the latest maps, I'm at <13:1 before 4000rpm and 12:1 by 4500rpm. I wonder which is more accurate... tail pipe or o2.

You have the datalogs?

They will.be posted shortly, I did 9 runs and 9 datalogs, I need to go back through them and find the matching datalogs by matching the times they were done, I still dont know how to label/name them

No reason to short shift with that curve, I mean maybe just a bit like 6800 rpm. Very impressive

The first graph is on 93 shell...
The second one is on a 1/3 tank 93 and 5 gallons of Sunoco 104

Hey Penn,
I am glad everything worked out. I guess it was a vanos solenoids. We had to change ours around 50k miles so you pretty much got the same symptoms like us. I like the power you are putting down and this should be a fun ride. Let me know if you need any other assistance.

Regards,
Robert@Vishnu

Too lean for my taste, need to fatten that up. Great numbers though!

They generally just go bad around 50k miles is what I was told by a few educated individuals
wonderful, I just turned 50K

add those to the list of S to watch out for on this car.... should spent the money for an M3

So, higher in the RPM range you want to stay above 13 AFR?

After all the strong talk of doing apples to apples testing for the HPF exhaust, you didn't even do 1 of the 9 runs with the 12-17 maps?

The increase is 100% due to the new maps...0% due to the exhaust.

Below. The higher the number the leaner you are. Although the vehicle is direct injection which is tolerable to leaner burns - I am still slightly old school in my mentality. I put near 300 miles on my car on a dyno doing testing and playing around. I like to see no leaner / higher than 12.-12.9 at full boost till 5000 and then down to low to mid 12s till 6000 and definatley low 12.0 through to redline. A solid 12.4 from the start down to 12.0 at redline would make me happy.

No, per Vishnu's request I updated my maps. I didnt want to loose all of my "learned" data from the V5 going back to V4, rather testing the capabilities of the new maps. I knew the exhaust wouldnt show much if anything. Why do you always bring negativity to my threads/comments? Its rather annoying...As I have stated plenty of times and everyone else has stated, at my CURRENT power levels, the exhaust wont really make that big of a diff. in power. Maybe next time I will go back and run the old maps but that wasn't my goal. I am really happy with the results and there is MUCH more power under the curve with these new maps...

EDIT: Its also not about just switching the maps, its having the same ambient temps, pouring the same 10 gallons of 104 sunoco gas in it, predicting how much gas I had in it before to ensure it was the same mix. Do you know how hard that would be to replicate. All those variables and you want to gripe...lol ridiculous. Whats your goal in asking/criticizing about my new runs?

It's hard to tell if there's any drop off or not by the graphs (power to redline).
If you can, could you please make the power graph into 1 graph because the other 2 are squishing everything.

since these engines have a tendency to run a little lean all the way through the powerband a good look at EGTs would help assess the need to fatten the AFR on the top end. doing a little comparitive studying in that area would paint a better picture.

with that said, i too am of the mind of very low 12ish:1 (even possibly 11:7 - 11:9) if the run is sustained, the heat dissipation at higher rpms is tricky, and giving yourself a bit of a buffer (not too much) can prevent det on long runs -- or short hard WOTs with no cool down... CC cooling is critical as the power/rpms goes up

I enjoy hearing opinions about AFR targeting. But ultimately I'll do what I think is best for performance and safety. Ive tuned quite a few of these things.
