The model number does not relate to the engine size any more.

eg the 528 is now a 3 litre but will soon be a 2 litre turbo.

The 325i also used to be a 2.5 litre - and it still is in Australia.

So the 1990cc BMW 2002 shoulda been badged "BMW 1992"...... (the last digit designated the number of doors)

The 325i and and 330i do not have the same motor -- from the bottom up -- for one thing, the 325i crankshaft is cast, and the 330i crankshaft is forged.

Maybe they have a point. It is barely quick enough if it was actually a 2.5l engine.

In my experience people tend to think that they know more about my car than I do and think I'm a retard when I tell them that I have a 3L engine in my car.

Anyone else?
I also had that happen to me with my 323i. People either thought it was a 4 cyl or 2.3l when it is a 2.5l.

If no codes are being thrown use Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner (concentrate). It solves rpm fluctuating upon cold start-up. Also, for most BMW problems start off by scanning your car with the Peake Research Tool. It contains the actual BMW codes. If you want to register a newly installed battery for free (just buy a $10 cable) and google/download BMWLogger

The difference between the 25d and 30d is that the 25d isn't turbocharged and runs at a lower pressure of 1800bar whereas the 30d runs at 2000bar. BMW only do 2 engines sizes in the E9X 3 Series - 2.0L and 3.0L.
