I like the look of V1, maybe because it's not a rectangle. The only issue I had when I first got it was not being able to tell the radar band at night because I couldn't see which light corresponds to which band. But now I can differentiate bands by their sound, so that's not a problem any more.

And also, V1 is the most rigid detector I've seen with suction cups. I think it's also because of the sliding mechanism to adjust the weight distribution depending on the windshield angle.

One more, it's good to know that if they come up with a new one, you can upgrade yours.

No charges in Maryland for that. Virginia I'm sure has a law since detectors are illegal.

Not that I know of, we use Pro laser 2 and 3. Those are the main two systems law enforcement use and they just give a reading as if I don't have the vehicle in my sights.

I don't know how this would effect Rador, but most places don't use radar anymore. Some small departments and some state police agencies still use it, thats about it.

Laser blockers on the other hand... One of the cops I worked with had his buddy come out one night with his A4 which had a laser blocker installed into the front bumper. This system worked I could not get a reading on the car until he flipped a switch deactivating the system. The system had a detector as well so he knew when we were hitting him with the laser, slowed down to the speed limit then deactivated it so we got a reading of the speed limit...

Food for thought
That is why I bought the Escort Shifter ZR3 to go with my 8500.

I've heard about of people are returning the 9500 within the 30 days for various reasons. GPS not working right, etc.

Laser jammers are illegal to operate in the states of: Nebraska, Minnesota, Utah, California, Oklahoma, Virginia, Colorado and Washington DC.

Radar jammers are illegal to own and/or operate in all 50 states per the Federal Communications Commission.

Wrong, wrong, wrong... It is Frequency (Not Band) Specific
You may be thinking about the ability to disable (ignore) an entire band (which it ALSO has) but the original post stands.

Actually from my experience he is 100% correct. In a small town near me I locked out a nuisance K band signal. Months later I was driving through the town and saw a sheriff's deputy running radar from his car, but no warning on the 9500.

The little indicator was spinning indicating a locked out signal. I pushed the mute button and the 9500 asked me if I wanted to unlock, I pushed mute again and the 9500 unlocked and lit up with a full scale K band warning - way stronger than the original nuisance signal.

I have no doubt that the 9500 locked out the police radar signal along with the original. I don't know the exact frequencies and how close they were, but I am no longer using the lockout feature of my 9500 which makes it a poor second to my V1 as radar detectors go. I would return it, but it has been more than 30 days.

I have read similar accounts in various forums. If you are using the 9500's lockout feature, you have been warned.

No, he had it right. It is 100% legal to jam laser, but 100% illegal to jam radar because of FFC regulations.

This is the dumbest review Ive ever read. Its like you bought two raincoats and judged them based on their material and how they looked on you. Not one fact or opinion regarding how they kept you dry in the rain.

Next time(and if you actually had them on your car at the same time) how about you drive around and report back to us which one had the longest range, quickest pickup, most alerts etc.

Lame.

How do you like the GPS? Does it really "remember" false areas like they claim?

I have a 9500i and have no problems with it all. It remembers false alarms and my speedtraps. The speedtrap alerts me I get to a "marked" by distance as well. Love it!! I have the mute button flush mounted in my coin dispenser. I'll take pics later and show you.

Very cool. I was wondering how the memory worked..... I have the 8500 myself. I'm going to get the zr3 laser jamer next, which works with my 8500 so I don't have to use the very large display unit that comes with the zr3.
