This sucks for you guys. I hope they start reporting soon. My ship Carmen has been reporting the whole time since about 2 days out of Southampton and a day and a half before and after the Canal.

Having the ship report regularly really helps the time pass. Trust me.

Hopefully you guys can look forward to this:

It's because the ship is not reporting it's position to the tracking services. And because aislive is not responding to registrants for its 2 week free trial, so no one is able to track the Maersk Tide.

It wouldn't matter now - AISLive doesn't work out in the open sea, only when the ship is near a harbor with AIS radio equipment. So having it now won't do any good.

Since Maersk Tide is due at the Canal on 5/25, I would submit an application (be creative) for an account right now and hope they get you the login by the 24th. Then start checking AISLive around the scheduled arrival date at the Canal and watch it go through! If you get an account now, it should still be valid when your ship arrives in LA.

If no-one has gotten their account by Thursday, I will PM mine to you which doesn't expire till May 28th.

Many thanks to fragadellic for the AIS-Live assist. The ship is at sea so no plot info on AIS-Live, but the stats at the bottom are current as of today. She is moving at the rapid, screaming rate of 16.3 knots per hour :mad: [you gotta be kidding me; any slower and it would be moving backwards]

Well anyway, only 2 more days until she is at the Panama Canal (Atlantic side)

You guys will be in good shape when it hits the canal. With AISLive you can literally watch it progress across the locks. There is a bottleneck at each end, and it take about 8 hours to cross the canal, which leave a lot of time for someone to grab an AISLive snapshot (or several LOL!!!) and post it.

Trust me, once it's past the canal, the wait goes really fast, and the ship will re-appear on AISLive somewhere south of San Diego, then before you know it the ship is docked at PH.

AZBMW will take care of you guys!!!

Hey you guys, your ship is approaching the canal. We may be able to get a picture of it going through since AISLive is just that...LIVE! I wish I had this account when my ship was going through. Looks like a traffic jam at both ends of the canal!! Here is the latest location:

I don't exactly know what the process is to get through the canal, but it appears the ship docks at the port on the Atlantic side of the canal for a short time then proceeds through, or something like that.

Maersk Tide is currently docked there.

Good news you guys, Maersk Tide has set sail from the dock in Panama for Port Hueneme. As you can see from the diagram of the canal below and the AISLive snapshot, it looks from the map below that its setting up for an approach to the Gatun locks right now. Looks like it's going to go through the canal tonight. Canal webcams at http://www.pancanal.com/eng/photo/camera-java.html

I'll continue to post updates all night since this is definitely THE most interesting ship to track right now.

That sucks. There is a box at the bottom of the AISLive screen that sets up a Java app to automatically update the ships position every 5 minutes, so you can literally watch it move. That's what I have on my screen for Maersk Tide...

Caution: Although the W&W schedule (see below) also shows Maersk Tide leaving today (in red), but still arriving on 4 June

Maybe tomorrow it will be updated to 2 June to match the AIS-Live info
