I've always used PMW Chelmsford for my BMWs, they are superb in all respects.

Two questions the OP talks about customising files. Surely you just have a generic standard map for a 335d with PF removed?

Also do you write your own maps or buy the code in like many firms?

How is my theory busted. My car went on enough Dyno's...

All i am saying is the losses you have calculated are wrong. No chance that a 360HP 335d is making 314 at the wheels.

Every time, including dyno days with several 335d's the tranny losses were 17-18%.

Also regarding your comment on the manual/auto. I find that intriguing when one has a torque converter..

It's not like an automated manual like SMG, I'd expect little difference between that and a manual. But not a conventional auto vs manual.

I know a man who likes a good RR "figure loss" discussion

I can vouch for Stan's work and his commitment to please (oo err ) First time i've saw the workshop, it's looking good need to pop in next time im in Hillington for one of these complimentary burger kings and a flick of the telly

(AVA Dave here btw)

My 335d has Stan's DPF removal kit and map fitted by PMW, the results are truly spectacular and this is when compared against the car being re-mapped already by a very well known and reputable company.

Highly reccomended.

This is why 'at-the-wheels' BHP is a better figure to use.

Crank torque figures themselves are irrelevant, and just confuse the issue as the crank torque is multiplied by the gear ratios before it gets to the wheels,

So a diesel with loads of crank torque will have the same wheel torque as a Honda Type R which has low crank torque, because that's what gearboxes are for!!

BHP all the way!

Hmmm, PMW look to be 2h 30m away from me, compared to almost 5 hours for Ecotune. If Stan's happy that they'll offer the right level of service, that's a better option.

I agree that wheel figures are the way to go!!

Remapped 335d's make 280-290HP at the wheels.
To make 315HP ATW will need more than a DPF delete and remap.

I don't doubt the 360HP but at the wheels will be 290-295.

I don't agree at all a type R has the same torque at the wheels as a 335d. The 335d does have massive torque at the wheels, that is what makes it so quick!

Torque can be measured - BHP is calculated as a function of torque and gearing. That's why dyno runs are normally done in 4th gear - it's the closest to a 1:1 ratio in most cars.

No way a Type R has the same torque as any big diesel engine.

I have been using PMW for everything on my car for a while now, they are completely honest, very reliable and friendly as well with everything they do, you will not have an issue with them.

Every piece of BMW software supplied by Ecotune is developed in house, we supply and develop software for many well known companies.

We do have maps pre-prepared for the 335d where the closed loop system adds the polish, in Jamies case as the car was responding so well we spent a little more time on his Maxitune software for a slightly better result.

You seem to be an expert on the subject... I would rather not discuss this on this thread any further if that's ok with you, this is about Jamies experience. If you want to bash this out then come and have a coffee in the workshop and I can show you some tangible material.

Sorry fellas :-S
