Wow, does your friend want to race for pinks?

Definately 4500-5000 rpm with a feathered launch with AWD. Do not just drop it or you will probably be replacing something in the drivetrain.

I haven't had too much time to play with my car so I viewed this as a good opportunity. The light turns green, I hear his motor gun. I "launch" the 335xi but the clutch drops and the engine bogs....but even after the botched launch, I destroyed him.

So it is always good to beat up on the Infinitis but how do you launch the 335xi??
I assume you did turn off DSC and DTC?

5-5500 rpm,s with a quick slip should do it.But buy the time you get it down pat you will probabely need a new clutch. My last two cars were modded Evo,s,an 03 8 bought new and an 06 BR350 IX (traded the 03 in for it).I know how to launch an awd car. When i ran at the drag strip,(englishtown and island dragway) i cut high 1.7 60ft. times on the stock clutch everytime i ran until they went.Practice ,practice, practice.

No mate...didn't have time. Also, no light came on for traction control. I just screwed up and bogged the engine.
