No, surprisingly she seemed to be alone, which is unusual.

Great action shot of the coyote!

An unusual Dogwood, not the normal white.

Spring is definitely the time around these parts to take pictures. We have a 3 month window before our hills return to their "Golden" state. I took the Bimmer out for a great drive yesterday in perfect weather through the Montezuma hills here, which is now pretty much a giant wind farm.

We have similar wind farms here. I've been wondering if a long exposure shot would yield a good "prop blur" to show motion.

People and the times are interesting. I remember back in the 70s and 80s the angst expressed over the unsightly billboards along our highways. (Remember the Burma Shave signs?) Today we have these "structures" populating huge expanses of land, obstructing previously pristine views and few utter a complaint. Times have definitely changed.

Tons of complaints around here about them. Not so much the view, but the noise. Those living near them say the noise is disturbing and always present.

Good time to test its high-ISO performance. How is the noise at ISO 1600?

I love the results I see from the Sony sensors, but their big lenses are somewhat limited and crazy expensive.

Another shot from Saturday morning:

Incoming...

Mallards on final approach. Those blotches of white and blue in the bokeh are snow patches on the Rocky Mountains.

^^^Nice shot, DC. I'm impressed with the AF tracking on birds coming practically right at you.

Thanks Mark. I'm a bit amazed also, since I had the 1.4x TC mounted, which was slowing it down a bit. I tracked them across the lake and had them in my sites for several seconds, so that helped with the tracking.

You can't see it here, but if you click on the image and go to Flickr to see it full-screen, then you might see that the lead drake's head is actually OOF. He's on a plane just ahead of the others. It's compressed perspective here, so it looks like he's only inches ahead, but he was leading from several feet ahead. I had enough light to drop f-stop to f/8 or maybe even f/11, but I didn't think to do it.

I was able to shoot a couple dozen photos using my Canon and Zeiss glass on the Metabones III adapter to ensure that auto focus, manual focus and IS all operated correctly...and they do. I will say that the auto focus was certainly not up to even a Canon 5D MK II level and that shutter noise would be very disturbing to wildlife (and some people). I'm probably going to wait for the next iteration and see if those issues are resolved.

The files are pretty nice to deal with, but I admit to being biased toward Canon files after years of experience with them. The size of the body and it's adaptability to my existing selection of glass is enticing though.
