I'm sure Vishnu will try to milk these final days for all they are worth with clever marketing designed to scare people away from the flash. But when the dust settles he will be off in the sunset looking for his next kill and the rest of us will be left with expensive paperweights.

PS. His next kill will not be the EVO X they already have flash mapping, killed him before he started.
How tacky.

Nah, as far as I know he has no intentions of selling on here or any other forum. I may be wrong on that though. There is still a lot of market research to be done. If he needs to pay a sponsorship fee, the man has no problem doing it. Remember who has started all these Sharkedit threads... you guys. Find a thread either Jim or I started about it.

The sharkedit forum should be up soon.

I, like most others, welcome info. Doesn't really matter to me who pays to be a sponsor.

That's good.

I'm just here to feed information... not push a product on you guys. There are a lot of questions about this that I hope to have answered real soon! I just have to sit down with Jim and go over things so both him and I are on the same track when it comes to everything.

Alright, I'm going home now.

Well I hope MUCH more information will come out soon. We are all very eager to hear about power numbers, boost psi (on his tune), and detectability.....

All I know is I can't wait to have a forum where I can read replies from people who actually know what they are doing and talking about. The ECUflash forum on EvoM attracted the smartest people on the forum and it was blatantly evident that was the case....looking forward to that again with the BMW

I ONLY mentioned he purchased another DME to bring the price point up. He didnt purchase it because he is scared of the detectability of the flash, but when trying something that HASNT been done it would be a bad idea to mess up your only DME. This one was purchased just in case something happens during testing that he cannot predict. Why try flashing a DME in your car when you can have one sitting on your desk.

He just picked up his E92 M3 today, can't wait to see it.

yes it was my mistake.

I thought you bought a spare DME even though you believe in this flash technology.

I suspect Jim will be buying a couple of the 80s and 81s for development, which makes perfect sense.

Frack, sounds like BMW pricing for sure. So much for the price spread theory. d'oh

They went far enough to release a new hardware version of the ECU to protect themselves from unauthorized flash editing. You can expect them to have a response to this. Of course, if warranty is not a concern (I'm probably in that boat!), then this is one less issue to even worry about.

That's my 2c,

I'm only half baked but I'm thinking a watchdog of some sort on the CAN bus might do the trick. Sort of like how the LCM is a watchdog for the instrument panel, at least like it is in the E46. Or perhaps storing the ECU code checksum or evidence of writes in the key fob in an indelible fashion. They're going to have to get it to the point where you'll have to use a JTAG interface in order to avoid detection. Myself, I learned long ago not to play badly with expensive toys that I want warranteed.

I see the future of BMW tuning seperating into two parts in next year or so.

People who want just a nice base flash will invest in a shark injector for relatively little money, and those with mods or wanting for something a little extra will go to a competent tuner, local or otherwise, for a thorough dyno based tune.

My good friend Justin is correct.

I have no intention of "selling" on the forums.

I actually came on here to make sure the correct info is available.

I haven't started a single thread on this board - and likely won't.

We'll have our own support forum for the licensed users of Shark Edit.

It will go live in tandem w/ the release

I'll be posting the link to a FAQ soon to answer a LOT of the questions.

One favor to ask.

Please don't PM me - I don't have the time to answer PM's - I have an actual job

If you need to contact me - use the email address I gave out at BF08.

sharkedt at bonnevillemotorwerks dot com

I will answer all I receive, but don't expect 1 hour (or even 1 day) turnaround
on replies. I'll shout back as I have spare cycles. Oh, and READ THE FAQ
first before asking. So I guess that means - wait for the FAQ before emailing me
about FAQ'y kind of questions.

Actually the fact that I spent $$ on a spare ECU indicates I wanted one
FOR MY BENCH for R&D work.

I actually have a drawer full of ECUS - all live - of different BMW types - for R&D work.

And once the R&D is done - they become cool paperweights.

When I say "drawer" I mean 1 x 2 x 2 foot drawer - 4 cubic feet of DME's
