I can assure you - forums are worse.

Again, all I am is saying is a huge population of the 335i owners are looking for power numbers.
And those owners should realize:

1) They will have no warranty

2) They will pop engines, turbos, DI pumps, etc.

3) They will pay for it because of #1

Maybe now that someone that everyone respects says this, people will start to listen and stop flaming those of us who have been saying this since day 1......

No, they are not going to listen to me, either. But at least I have spoken

The word you missed was..

"....modding it to RELIABLY produce big power....."

Which hasn't been done yet. Instead enough hardware has been broken that
the OEM has taken drastic steps to limit tuning.

Jim, I'll bake you brownies myself in exchange for a solution for the MSD81.

Just kidding, enjoy the M3! (but get it done quickly for the 81 guys sanity's sake!)

Bingo! Unfortunately NOBODY understands this aspect of modifying car's clearly anymore and want to play dodge ball with all the curve balls thrown at them. Doesn't work that way.

By the way, I sent you an email, I look forward to your reply

What do you feel are the max horsepower limits on this car while still keeping it reliable?

Without changing ANY of the components? around +70-80 hp.

Changing the intercooler and improving the cooling? around +100hp.

Beyond that and you are talking changing turbos and motor parts.

Just IMHO, of course.

I am curious what the boost pressure at 5700-6000 and 3800-4000 RPM with 80 HP peak at t-map all stock.

I really do like your sense of humour and candour.

Is this what your tune is going to provide? 80hp/100trq?

Also, what psi do you consider safe?

That why i aksed with RPM which is more direct to flow rate. I rather say what flow rate for boost but i can't compare to blown turbo tunes.

In order..

Flywheel numbers - saying "to the wheels" then implies "which dyno" and
"who is measuring".

I don't worry about "boost" numbers - I worry about "relative filling" numbers
since that's how the ECU "thinks".

Shark Edit itself isn't slated to come w/ a "base tune". That would sort of
defeat the purpose of an editor.

Lastly - define safe - 12 or so psi without any changes - a bit more as you fix
the N54's cooling issues.

That is why I asked what "you" consider safe. I would like you to define it since you know more about this motor than I do.

Also, I know the SE doesn't come with a base tune but I was curious what kind of flywheel numbers your tune would provide @ what psi or so.

Thanks for answering these questions Jim.....

The key with "boost" numbers is..

Which day, What phase of the moon, and what environmental conditions.

Boost changes w/ altitude, baro pressure, humidity, and temperature.

12psi today might be 13.5 under different conditions.

The MSD80 ECU is closing the loop (controlling) relative filling.

Yes sir, I have seen the boost raise for certain condition myself (heat, etc).

How long after the SE comes out do you expect to have your map ready? Or do you already have beta testers trying it out?
