Ok, can you select the cic service menu and check the antenna status, this will tell you if the TV is powered on and MOST connected correctly.

If you can't see that antennas, or they are inactive, then either the TV has no power or the MOST is wrong, or the tv coding is incorrect

As for these CIC options, they are correct after default coding CIC module.

Ok, I have to change mine to be correct, mine defaulted to the incorrect one.

Preferably, you need the OEM tv/dab antenna (good luck with that).

But you can get a way with a fakra splitter (on the dab antenna) and a extra antenna.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dual-Male...EAAOSw63Nal-Ia

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-CIC-N...kAAOSwuhFaKngS

How much did you get the tv for? (just being nosey).

Hi ccfj1,

This is a great inspirational thread!

I'm thinking to do this retrofit in my E93. It's a 2008, but I've already replaced the factory CCC and DAB units with a CIC unit (with integrated DAB) and a Combox.

Having read through all the posts, I'm slightly confused as to whether I should go for an E or F series tuner.

I'm guessing E series, and then the bracket and as I have DAB, your suggestion of the splitter and then TV antenna.

Will I also need some additional cables, power for the TV module, etc?

Hoping there will be space under my boot floor next to the Combox for the TV module.

Be great if you're able to provide any further pointers on this. Thanks!

Either tuner will work.

The e series (even the newer type), will be seen on the system when you do a UIF lookup with INPA, the F series wont, but they both work perfectly.

I would go for the cheapest you can find and get the newer style one as it does fit next to the combox in the boot.

As for the antenna leads, i dont know about the e93, you will need to do some leg work.

I used the power lead and fibre from the cd changer (that is unused).

The power and FBAS lead will need to be either bought or made. PM me about that, I may have a spare FBAS lead (but not a connector, that will need to be got from BMW).

Smile Help with e90 tv module

I have a 2010 E90 320i in Japan (CIC). It only has the basics: no Bluetooth, no reverse camera, parking sensors, etc.
I'm working my way to install everything.

I found someone selling a tv module (see photo below), he says it was pulled out of a 2008 m3 e90. The part number is: 9 146 702.
Some questions:
  1. Is this compatible? When googling the part number it shows this is for the E60.
  2. The part number seems to be for Japan only, so I'm struggling to find information about it. Is there any equivalent p/n that I can use when searching in Google?
  3. Where can I buy the cable harness or the parts to make the cable harness? What are the connectors names? Where can I find a connection diagram?
  4. They sell it without mounting brackets or anything. Will I be able to install it without it? I guess could make my own out of wood.
  5. If I install this module, will I still be able to set up the reverse camera?
Thanks!

I put ampire ANT600 antennas under the mirror caps. routed leads through the door (done similar before for gps).

I have ordered a F/G series DVB-T2 unit with RSE. Hoping the unit does not not need the firmware update mentioned by ccfj1. I do not have esys, nor a most gw, nor a bench setup

Can anyone who has DVB check if they have the Zoom option for TV on their E/F/G series DVB box? I have it with my E series box but I've heard others say they do not have it. The zoom option looks like this (in "option" menu):

Cool, I have a 320i E93 and did similar upgrades. The best upgrade for me was the CIC+combox (I had no nav/CD player). So much more modern, but a pain to change the dashboard!

For parking sensors, I added front PDC as I had rear PDC already. You can make the harness yourself, use the wiring diagrams in ISTA/D to help. Do PDC before the reverse cam retrofit.

For reverse cam, be aware that the E90 never came with TRSVC (reverse cam) as an option. It can be done though. The easy way is to install a cheap TRSVC emulator box, with a handle camera (both from aliexpress). Find the camera without guidelines as the guidelines will not work. The PDC emu box works much better with front + rear PDC and the dashboard button.

The harder option is to use an E84 PDC box and E70 camera, so you get OEM parking lines and steering angles. This requires creating your own camera mount from a cheap handle camera, the E70 camera is not direct fit. Search around this forum for more info.

No this is the box for CCC (pre-lci) pro nav. Analogue. In Europe analogue has been switched off so these boxes are sold cheaply.

You need a special ISDB-T standard Japanese TV box. I think this one for E90 cars:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/232049193294 (archive.org)
(there are cheaper options for this on ebay, just search)

Or you can get the F10/G11 (newer) box (You *may* need to have the firmware updated for this series box to fully work) :

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm//153432138784(archive.org)

Check realOEM.com for alternative part numbers.

Good luck!

That TV module will power on, but its not a digital unit.

e60 unit will work in an e90

Ebay has a ready made look if you dont want to make one.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-E65-E...QAAOxy3HJTIa5z

you still may need to modify it as the e90 and e60 are not 100% the same.

You can get the brackets from the dealer.

Personally I would get the later tv module and mount it under the floor next to the combox/tcu/mulf, its a neater install and you dont need loads of brackets and a new boot liner.

Nice one.

The zoom option is still there, and while the later Tv modules fill the screen better than the older ones, if you want full screen, you still need the zoom (it does however cut the top and bottom of the screen slightly).

TV should work regardless of version, but the T2 module might need c1a.

if your t2 unit does need a flash, PM me i can do that for you.

Good to know, thanks for checking! Yes I saw zoom does cut the top and bottom as per the snooker pics above.

Hi guys. I'm looking into retrofitting this on my f30. I currently have nbt evo (ID6). Would the following items be correct?

DVB-T2 module (obviously)
Most Y cable adapter
antenna x2. something line this? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-CIC-N...kAAOSwuhFaKngS

Then I would need to run a few wires up to the head unit from the dvb module?

after that all I would need to do is VO code 601?

Any newer f or g series TV would work, but the t2 is the best unit.

Correct, and you will need the connector plug.

They work very well, but have you not looked at the OEM antenna solution?

Correct, the FBAS pins (x3)

Just to confirm the t2 units are the ones that say TV-MODUL2 ECE on the label?

Sorry for any silly questions. Do you mean just vo codding 601 to the hu? In my case HU_nbt2. or some other FDL codding?

As for the antennas I might look into a more oem (elegant) solution at a later date but id be happy to get it working first

No, they have DVBT-T2 on them, they dont have a chrome faceplate, its more of a brushed alloy look.

You can add $601 and then update your FA and then default your nbt, but you can just edit the code and add the tv option for the nbt coding.

So it arrived and I fitted it, all working without any need for a software update. Wiring the same as my previous unit too. Woo.

I got the RSE DVB-T2 unit with three antenna ports, so had to add another antenna so that it would start scanning. The new unit is from a F90 but also goes in G11/G12/G30/G38. label of the new unit:

Name: IMG_8720.jpg
Views: 1568
Size: 210.8 KB

My previous unit was an E70 DVB-T(1) without RSE. label of my previous unit:

Name: IMG_8721.jpg
Views: 1624
Size: 314.9 KB

Interestingly my supplier sent me the cut connector. It looks like the RSE unit sends two lots of CVBS/FBAS (analogue video) signals out. The first is for the CIC, and the 2nd is for rear entertainment system. The wiring for this unit is as follows:

Name: IMG_8717.jpg
Views: 1662
Size: 322.1 KB

RSE FBAS 1:
pin2=video+ (blue)
pin8=video- (white)
pin7=shield (black, not strictly needed for short wiring runs)

RSE FBAS 2:
pin3=video+ (yellow)
pin9=video- (white)
pin11=shield (black, not strictly needed for short wiring runs)

the other pins are as usual
12v power = pin 1
gnd=pin 12

(sorry about the photo width, anyone how how to fix that?)
