That's the price of owning a BMW unfortunately. I bet people who own Gallardo's don't like paying $2,500 for straight pipes (just straight pieces of pipe) for their exhaust, but the price of the product also factors in the price of the car.

It's really not expensive at all IMHO, for the quality product your getting.

I think we would all like to get our parts for close to nothing....but like I said earlier, IMO its the best bang for the buck out there right now when it comes to a CAI

Like I said, his online store will be coming in the next month or so. You may be able to call him and order directly over the phone but I don't know that information off-hand. I don't believe there is any cutting involved. The pictures of inside the wheel well would have to come from Stett since mine is already installed. I will try to post a pic of my intake from the top-side since the picture I provided is a pre-production photo. Albeit, the same design and finish.

Do you have to remove the brace on the drivers side fender as the VIP intake requires?

I'm not sure. I wasn't there for the install but all I got back was my intake box. So my guess would be no since I did not receive that part back. However, I cannot say for certain.

All these types of questions can be asked to Stett directly via their website. I'm trying to get as much answered as I can from Chad but it might be quicker and easier for you to contact them directly. I love to help you guys but at the same time he's really busy right now and I don't want to be bugging him all the time (hope you guys understand).

He's already astounded at all the interest this thread and others on other sites have generated. He's really excited about his line of products and I can't blame him. It's quality stuff!

I understand. Thanks for responding. I was viewing the thread on N54 and thought that perhaps you were a representative from Stett.

I'm really not comfortable with removing that brace on the drivers side fender. Hopefully the Stett CAI doesn't require this.

Tell him to keep at it!

Oh no, by no means am I a representative of Stett. I'm just a guy who got the intake and wanted to post my review. I'm excited that I'm down the street from a tuner who is creating, not just carrying products for our cars. My next goal is to get the Dinan tune, and then throw on the Stett intercooler.

The Quality looks great, but quality aside, its not rocket science to make a product like this. The reason the intakes are so expensive is because a) Its a new product and people pay crazy amounts for something "new". b) Your paying a preminum because Jo-blow is welding and bending each and every part by himself in some small shop.

As time progresses, modifications like this will turn more mainstream. More fish will be in the sea and less hands on manufacturing processes will be put into place.

If nothing reasonably priced hits the market in the next month or so, I may just buy some pipe and tig my own intake up.

But I do agree, when you say the words "BMW" suddenly your paying for the car its going on. That has always amazed me.

Its nice, but I think Id rather just settle for an MSDS intake system rather than $700 for an intake....for $700 you could get a piggyback.

No offense but did you even read the thread? The gains would be atleast 15-18rwhp on an otherwise stock car. The more mode you have, the more you gain. Also, what part of "the photo is of a pre-production unit" did you not understand? I will post pics of my actual intake that is the finalized version soon. I just attached this one for reference until then. I understand you not liking a product for whatever reason but atleast make sure those reasons are factually correct.

I'll pay for the pipe if you do the welding.

I honestly think a lot of the gouging and sudden appearance of so many is shiv repeatedly telling people they will pick up 40hp with an intake.

Some of us....like myself, are too impatient to wait for these systems. The car has been out for well over a year! How long does it take for someone like Conforti, AA, or Vishnu to make a piece? I'm not sure and I'm not waiting to find out. I'm just speaking for myself on this, but my time is too valuable to be wasted trying to build an intake for my car to save a few bucks.

Stage 2 MSDS is around $600 and the Logic intake will be in that range as well

They are all too much anyway, if it was a civic it would cost $300 at MOST. So far no on has released anything that is better quality then what would be in a civic anyway.

If I was going to buy any of them, which I wouldn't it would be the stett one though from what I've seen so far.

is the fliter a k&n?? and where is it placed, down below the driver side lights??

my main question is do we have to remove the bumper to clean the air filter?
