Tried again on my way home and success, well, sort of...
I now seem to be able to make calls but the call drops from hands-free after about 20 seconds (the call is still active through the phone) and a message appears on the phone) can't remember exactly what it says but if I select 'yes' it reconnected to hands-free after a little pause. No phone book or contacts yet however need to play a little more. Any thoughts on the dropping from hands-free??

If I remember rightly 'Newbie' then I didn't follow the instructions 100%. I was driving at the time (safety first kids) so my memory is a little hazy. I tried the instructions to a tee but, as you say, didn't work. The phone & car did pair though. I then simply went via the phone into bloothtooth and manually selected the car via 'connect to audio device' which was under 'paired devices' - seemed to work but not 100% (as explained in my previous post). The hands-free software, downloaded from the Nokia site, is running in the background throughout the whole process.

My details for the N95 8GB (purchased about 2 weeks ago): V 20.0.016 28-02-08 RM-320 NOKIA N95 (D1.01) Car is July 07 build but had the i-drive updated in January 08. The phone says "processing". The longest I've waited is about 15 minutes without any joy. I'll give it another go later on today. |

Interesting! I can't get the same phone, running the same app, to pair up with the 330i which I have at the moment. This one has the Pro-Nav and is very new build - only has about 600mls on it, 08 plate.

OK, it seems that the cars with nav use a different bluetooth module than the cars without nav.
Also cars with usb seem to have a different module too. |

N73
Same for N73 only basic functions, also have a W series Sony so will try that to see if it works as per Lisa's thread...
Update, tried the W810i same as N73, the BMW website confirms only a handful of older models are fully functional and the Iphone which I wont be buying... Last edited by AndyPandy; 07-09-2008 at 12:49 PM.. |

I just upgraded the firmware to the latest version and had to reinstall the Nokia 610 car kit app.
It would not transfer the contacts at all. So deleted the phone pairing again and made sure the app was running in the background, and paired them once more. After about 20 minutes the Nokia 610 app said 'finished transferring contacts' and my contacts were back again. So for those who have got it working the latest firmware does not affect anything. |

I have pro nav and i drive on a 56 plate with old silver n95 and tried everything. Didn't want to change the phone as I liked the camera but finally got it sorted now....
Upgraded to a sony c902, perfect operation of phonebook and has a 5mp camera. Was going to wait for new iphone but it has crap camera, just need to buy a new car charger now! |

Hey guys - sorry to revive this topic. Does anybody know if this handset will work with a 57 plate X3 (my wifes)? I did have a look at the bluetooth compatibility list under the BMW owners section on their website - but it provided no clues. I suspect the phone will pair up, but whether it shows the name or not is the real issue.
BTW - Happy (belated) new year to you all!! |
