Funny thing I just went for a ride in my buddies gto.
And no when we race its legit. There not slow cars but a 335i with a tune is no match for the 6.0 or the 5.7. Ive raced both

He actually meant the reverse...that a stock or moderately tuned GTO (5.7L or 6.0L) is no match for a tuned 335i. ![]()

exactly. Pretty much breaks down to top end.
The gto's are low end monsters but every gear that is changed a tuned 335i will begin to walk on them

I was gonna do a 20 or 40 mph rolls with him.............he is completely stock by the way..........he really doesn't know cars at all or the first mods that he would do, he keeps saying give me a year and i'll have a twin turbo system put in.....
Im a financial planner and I can tell he barely has enough money to keep gas in his GTO (thats why i told him to pick up a 4 cylinder $500 dollar car to save on all the gas he is spending, which he did and drives around in) and he just got a bran new house and was recently married and I know his wife and she would never let him spend 10k on his car let alone 1000 dollars............we do business together (he sends me references) so I know the amount of health insurance business he does a year pretty much would never come close to covering $10,000 of excess money to spend......... |

let me tell you a story. I saw this guy in a yellow GTO at a stop light. there were two people in the car. the dude rolled down the window on the passenger side and began asking me about my car. At the time, i had a 06 MKV volkswagen GTI with basic stage 2 mods. Non built internals and only basic shit to engine. no turbo upgrades. i maybe had 270whp on race gas. this dude was had just bought this GTO used and asked me to race him. i raced him (in mexico), on a slight incline up to about 125 and pulled a car on him. VW > GTO? pontiac aint shit. sorry

I ran my friends 06 GTO when I had V1.47 Procede and it was a dead heat. He trapped 109mph stock, they are not weak cars people, mainly weak drivers.
If you havea strong tune you will beat him as long as he is stock, but you'll have to drive well. If you mess up just a little you will not outpull the LS2 at high speeds, end of story.

With stock tires? A JB3 335i will run 12.6x with everything else stock including RFTs and 91 octane. With DRs that would easily be 12.40 or less.

If they have the tires, it doesn't take much to drop them into the lower 12's cams mostly, line locks, etc That puts them into the same ball park as a 335 with a good tune.. Then it's a drivers race... Which you will still want to really practice your launches. Be safe and whoooop his arse - on a track. That way you have time slips to rub under his nose. |

Who really gives a crap. He's driving a POS GTO....yuck.
Not only is your car 1000 times better, but you'll probably beat him in a race and he can cry all the way home for 2 reasons. ![]()

However since you did 12.13s before, maybe you know what you are talking about. If what you are saying is true then a 335i with JB3 or V3 with stock RFT would be able to run even with a e92 m3? 12.6xx sounds like m3 territory to me. |

^that's what terry timed it at on his gps performance timer
he got like 12.2 @ 114 mph with dragradials and aprox. 93 octane. 12.6 @113 with jb3 only on 91 with rft. this was in a 135 btw, not a 3er |

^ Not quite 1.6
http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1466 2.0 sec 60 foot time for the 12.6 on rft. also, launch and technique doesn't effect the MPH much - which was 113 on 91octane. That's the best measure of performance. |

GTO vs 335i
Ok I raced a 06 GTO coming back from San Francisco on the 1 freeway. He came up behind me and I jumped on it till about 135-140mph and we was not to far behind me. So I slowed down and he got next to me at about 60mph. We jumped on I took him for the first 3 or so seconds then he shifted and was able to pull me. We did another run at 40 and again I got the jump but once he shifted he was gone. That GTO did not sound stock at all and I know the LS1 motor, I was stock so my 300 hp vs 400+hp when moving she will take me all day. Now off of the launch, from a dead stop maybe I might have had a chance.
I am a diesel Mechanic by trade so I know alot about engines and performance shit. I used to own a 1968 Camaro with a 454 duel carb monster and I am now working on my 1962 Nova with 383 stroker motor. You can't beat cubic inch!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
