Way over thought. So many simple functions/features/settings are buried and hard to find. Having to be logged into your profile for certain features to be fully functional is a PITA. On top of that, it's LAGGY.

We went backwards with this one, BMW.

My 2023 M3 is currently at the port. So would this software update happen at delivery? Or would it already have been updated at the factory before it finished production on July 4th?

Also, any updates to the personal 5G eSIM feature? I thought I read somewhere that the update would enable more vehicles to use it.

Just want to add that the surface/radiant heating now seems to be integrated with the seat heating. It's no longer possible to adjust the radiant heating on its own. No problem for me during the summer but I hope it will come back before the Swedish winter arrives😁

I really like Idrive 8 and think it feels really high tech

For reference for idrive 7 owners that are asking , I can't see anything different in 07/22, as expected as the new OS uses a different headunit . It all seems to operate the same. CarPlay syncing is faster though !

I wonder if it is a US vs. ECE thing because the three ID8 cars I've been in were responsive. U06, I20, G26. Even zooming in/out sat nav maps was smooth and the rest of the basic functions as well.

That said, hate it. Looks dumb in the G2x and is not as intuitive as ID6 or ID7.

And what was wrong with the previous ZF gear selectors? I guess we will never know.

Just realized it was post update since it included the two new driving modes. I've been in others that it was very responsive as well...so seems like it's hit or miss.

Really hoping they have a good finished product by the time the G87 rolls around.

But yes, not even remotely close as intuitive as the previous two systems. iD7 was peak interface IMO.

Is it like eco < relax < personal < expressive < sport in terms of sporty driving dynamics? and opposite order for range?

hi, has anyone had issues with the new digital key plus and the software update, since I got the car updated it wont recognise the phone as a digital key inside the car, will unlock ok, but wont start , when I get in and shut the door, the car locks itself coz it cant find the key with the UWB

This is quite a good video covering the new M customised iDrive 8. Seems to only be available on combustion M cars currently but hopefully it might come to the M60 one day?

Hi. USB video doesn't work in idrive8. Is there a way to enable it?. I have been emailing BMW Australia with no success. They said it was not available.
